The BEST address I ever had in Brighton was 53 Old Steine - top floor flat, next door to Marlborough House, free off-street parking in front of the building.

Handy for EVERYTHING.

positively encourages bbq's .

Wait until Mrs Mears' BBQ Stasi get on the case. You must be next on the list.

Fun, we cannot have this. Let's not smile and let's oppose anything new as we prefer to wrap Brighton and it's supposed wide-spread Regency seafront up in sepia and cotton wool.

Queens Park OWNS Hanover, so we get the best of both worlds. Loadsa pubs and a nice park

Queens Park was the best place to play footie anyway in the part of town... unless you wanted to slog down to East Brighton Park...

... that or climb over the wall to the hockey pitches opposite St Mary's (which have now, sadly, gone)

Hanover a front runner at the moment. It's always been a popular place, but you couldn't pay me enough to move up there - no matter how good the pubs are it's all steep hills and people living on top of each other. It may not be fashionable, but give me a house with a garden in spacious Hollingdean any day over Hanover.

Who voted for Whitehawk I wonder?.
The only part of Brighton where house prices are affordable. All the ex council houses in Bevendean , Moulscoomb and Hollingdean that come up for sale are aimed at the student lettings market and command a premium price.

Coldean for me. I absolutely love it here.

It's quiet in the evenings, you can actually see the stars at night, from my back garden I can see the Downs, from the front I can see the Great Wood. I've got snakes, slow worms, frogs in my garden and countless birds. The people are friendly, it's walking distance to a great, little school and within 20 minutes you're out in the country. If the Hikers sold decent beer, it would be perfect.

The free state of Kemp Town
I'm a big fan of Hanover, Kemp Town and Queen's Park all of which I am proud to have called home over the years.

HOWEVER I wouldn't go so far as to say that anywhere within the triangle of the three neighbourhoods is good as there are some shitty bits like the area around Tarner Road and Albion Hill.

My new Kemp Town pad is very lovely though and I have everything here I could ever need. The Hand in Hand has proved to be a most excellent local

Fiveways or Brunswick for me.

Fiveways is more affordable though and I bought my first place there a year ago

 Fiveways has got to be one of the most desirable locales in Brighton and Hove and as such can't be that affordable I wouldn't have thought.
