I takes all opinions Stumpy. I have never seen the impact of a film before or for the 10 years since , that Schindler's List had on me and everyone in the cinema.

Don't get me wrong GG, it's a good film. In terms of its impact on cinema though, it was nothing new. Just a very well done story of a horrific period of time. Shame they ruined it with the scene where Schlindler left - I thought Liam Neeson was unconvincing.

It is to the eternal shame of the acadmey that Neeson did not bag the best actor oscar for Schindler's List. Surely their greatest ever error for the greatest performance commited to celluloid.

1. Goodbye Mr Chips (the original version that won all the Oscars and co-starred the lovely Greer Garson)

2. Pulp Fiction - best scripted film ever

how about

Around the world in Eighty days (David Niven)

It's a wonderful life

However anything with Gene Hackman is worth a look. (French Connection, The Firm, Crimson Tide and No Way out)

1. Midnight Cowboy

2. Rififi et Son Freres

Classic 1950s French crime caper, including the heist itself shot without dialogue for 50 minutes.

Big shout also for The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. Never mind the main theme tune, the trumpet solo for the showdown at the end of the film where there is the three way shoot out. Excellent.

Can't make up my mind :dunce:

serious - Scindlers list or Shawshank or usual suspects

funny - Dumb & dumber or Airplane :p

For music related films I would choose;
The Commitments + The Doors.

Das Boot (the sub-titled version: don't watch the shortened dubbed version) is about the most tension-filled and best paced film I have ever seen. However, once you know what is going to happen, it is hard to watch more than twice.
