Are we still pretty much in the same 'wait and see' situation as to whether he's going to say with us or not, or have we moved one way or another that I've missed?

We've got Whing, we've got Forster, Bertin signing would be the icing on the cake for me.

It's still wait and see as far as I know - unless anyone else knows different.

Am I alone in thinking Berin is over-rated

That could only be the case, if there was a 'rating' that could be said to have been surpassed. What does it mean then, "over-rated"? He's a decent enough player for his position, no Renaldo but then who else is, and has done well for us - with the consideration that finding a better player would not be easy or affordable.
Assuming he might feel comfortable about the player around him, and the location (perhaps a key issue here), then why not try to have him carry on?

he is better than anyone we are likely to atttract and will wait until pre-season to see if a bigger club come looking.....and why wouldn't/shouldn't he? Reckon we can reasonably assume he will move on

Better than Jimmy Case at any point in the last 20 years? Probably.

In his heyday at Liverpool, of course not.

I agree , he was different class in his first few games, then went at best average for the rest of his games.

We've seen he can be very good though so wouldlove it if we got him. The fact Reid is fit though takes the pressure off getting him slightly

Agreed. Average player.

I think a deadline should be put on him. Sign or f*** off. We want players that want to play for this club, not wait until the last chance saloon before signing.

There really isn't any rush- most contracts don't expire 'till July anyway so 99% of transfers are yet to happen. He is always going to review his options and who can blame him?

Hope he signs. Hope Currie signs too. Just imagine that!

A midfielder who can break play up without going through players and getting booked for ridiculous tackles, who can also pass the ball as well as slow the play down. If he stays I reckon he will be the next big money player to leave ...probably in the January window. He is too good for this division, imo.

That sums it up as i see it. But apparently we are definitely 'wrong'.

He is a good player, but we should set a deadline... if he says No, we need time to find an alternative defencive midfielder (Reid is not that type of player BTW)...
