Yet we still win games and stayed up.....

I agree though in some respects that because we sat deeper, they shone more and that included Bernardo. Montoya and Bong (when Bernardo was injured) were bigger problems.

I thought God Montoya was untouchable on NSC?

He wasn’t as bad as a number made out, but just not Bruno.

I thought he was a steady 6/10 most weeks, not great but not terrible. Bernardo, under Hughton, was more 7 most weeks for me.

His level of form under Potter has been very poor..... more of a 5......

All opinions. I thought Montoya could be an 8 or 9 eg in some of our famous EPL wins, but also runs of shocking defensive form. He lacked pace and often positional sense, LW’ers such as Redmond had him on toast.

Bernardo seemed alright, but steadily declined.

Though against Sterling at Wembley he was outstanding, to the point where he switched to Bernardo (and still got nothing).

Really we were spoilt with Bruno.

Bruno and (all too briefly) Wayne Bridge.

The best Albion FB’s I’ve seen.

Best wishes to the lad. In football, a move doesn't always work out. Did we get the best out of him, probably not. But we did see his best a couple of times and I see why we signed him. Hope he finds his best and consistent form at his new club.

Bong was a defender first and foremost But at the time he started getting dogs abuse He was the most obvious player to upgrade if the team were improve

Montoya had a tough act to follow . Defensively weak Ok going forward
Never a fan

In his earlier days Bruno was prone to the odd error most games
That quite often got punished by the opposition
But like a fine wine ,the older he got the better he seemed to become
Also as the players around him improved So did he

I saw practically every one of Bruno’s games including the friendly at Maidstone, he really wasn’t prone to many errors at all even when he first signed.

So in that respect I don’t agree...

Edit - I remember one ugly airborne clearance that stitched Stockdale up, can’t remember any others immediately.

Not that I’m in current contact with him , but a chap a few seats along from me since we ve been at the Amex
known to me as Bruno was a massive fan boy Even he would admit in the earlier years there were the odd errors most games It might have only been one But often proved costly This would have been around the time he rotated in and out with Calderon
But we will have to agree to disagree on that matter If that’s your opinion and that’s fine

Bernardo was very solid, a decent PL player.

But now compare that to Lamptey. Or even Solly this season. We are raising the bar, it’s part of the journey moving towards being an established team.

Andy Naylor saying it will be made permanent this summer. Can anyone with an Athletic subscription tell me who Andy has suggested as replacements?

He's identified potential four options: Ismail Jaobs at FC Koln, Borna Sosa at Stuttgart, Callum Styles at Barnsley and Andreas Kuen at Sturm Graz. The article also mentions a couple of others who could be a good fit such as Ryan Sessegnon, Bryan Gil of Sevilla and Simen Juklerod at Royal Antwerp but it doesn't go into detail about these three.

Only just seen that. I agree. Crappy missplaced passes and flicks were commonplace until the last season and a half.

Whilst it would be great to sign a like for like replacement, l don't think it's end of the world if we don't, Solly and BDB have done a great job as left wing back this season, and now we also have Karbownik and Moder who can play there.
