if Norwich fail with another target they can always come back later to us with a desperatley increased bid, turning up to training just means he's training as normal.....nothing different but that does'nt mean he's 100% staying.

9hours 57minutes to go :D

So this is all that bent old bastard Redknapp's fault? I knew there was a reason I can't stand him.

He he. Well, he did start this, as I believe that was how he eventually did that ridiculous Benjani / Defoe deal at Pompey when it went through a whole week after the window shut. Although obviously 'Arry did it better than the rest, as there isn't actually a seperate loan window in the Premiership, but he somehow got the deal through anyway. He did seem to give everyone the idea though, because the Premiership window was shut, and Pompey and Man City were still rowing about the actual transfer fee, despite 'Arry claiming all the paperwork had been faxed througjh on time.

"How's that possible if you don't even know the fee 'Arry." His excuse was that they were arguing about the fee when it becomes permanent in the summer. the paperwork that had gone through "in time" *cough* was just for a loan deal until the summer.

Since then a few clubs have done that, certainly outside the Premiership where we have a loan window running into March.

Don't count Burnley out just yet (not saying they are in for Bennett at all btw - just pointing out that Norwich are not the only vulture in town). A lot of my family are from that area and I've been told that Burnley have been watching a number of players from League One. Makes sense given that this is the division that Eddie Howe knows. Iwelumo might be going today, which would leave Burnley more in need of strikers than midfielders.

I'm sorry, but why would any player go to Burnley? I'm sure even Leon Knight would turn them down if he had the chance. Smaller fan base than us, the grim north etc. etc. Howe himself could surely have done so much better than choosing to go there.

I think its looking unlikely that this one will happen based on the fact he was training this morning and Lambert didn't sound that convinced he'd get someone esle in today when he spoke this morning.

I suspect that Bloom has put too high a price on his head for us and given that we have Hoolahan, Lansbury and Surman who are all creative midfielders we are probably not desperate enough to meet his demands!

If thats the case then such is life and we will move on. He sounds a good player and i think he would have come if given the chance so is a shame from our perspective but no doubt you lot will be very happy about it! Personally I think we need a striker more than another midfielder anyway.

Best of luck for the rest of the season!

But what if a helicopter turns up to whisk him away like Torres???

That said, Helos are pretty tough to fly if you have six figers....

There is a rumour going round that Bennett left Falmer on a tractor!!!!!! now i'm worried

I wouldn't drive through the place let alone work there. Couldn't agree more. But apparently, some people do play football for Burnley.

I just logged into NSC and saw just the 'Bennett training at' part of the thread title on the front page and feared that it would have been followed by someone like 'Norwich', so good news so far

I just hope that PMB isn't right and that he will be staying with us after all this, Transfer Window hurry up and close (unless we are bringing in a great player ourselves of course)

So TRHK, are you saying that Iwelumo is Brighton bound? ???

No, the point of that sort of "deal" is not about it being a loan in the usual sense of the word. It's when a club miss a deadline, and you are NOT managed by Harry Redknapp, then you agree a loan until the window re-opens when the permanent deal goes through. No-one is proving themselves, or risking the deal collapsing due to injury, it's just a way around the regulations. My point is, there is a way around the regulations outside of the Premiership because our loan window remains open.

Or in other words ..... I will continue to worry, even after 11pm tonight!

FFS... STOP WORRYING after today... life is too short... our Chairman has made it VERY, VERY clear he is going nowhere...

Highly-rated Seagulls midfielder Elliott Bennett was at training today and Albion say they hope to keep their squad status quo. According to Talksport the 11pm deadline is a token gesture with negotiations rumbling on long beyond it, so it may be August 2014 and our first season in the Premiership before we know for sure if Elliott Bennett is staying.
