1. Didn't you say last week that a reliable source said he had a medical last Thursday?
2. BHA have said not for sale
3. Even if we did sell him to you how truly happy would you be to see Norwich take a gamble on a player with no Championship experience considering that any offer would have to be around the £2.5-£3 million mark?
4 Finally, it's inevitable with your squad that you'll fall away from the play-off positions over the next few months. Why do you think a club of Norwich's stature would be anymore attractive than ourselves next year?

1. no
2. indeed but if the player is unhappy how useful is he...
3. in lambert we trust
4. our squad is nearly 100% fit now, we had an injury crisis a few weeks back and have been doing ok. i can't answer about the attractiveness next year as no idea what leagues will be in. tho we do pay around 3 times higher wages currently.

if you keep him and went up, why would you sell him? need decent players in that league and it's not like you need the money

As you rightly said "if he wants to go"................then we can only keep him so long

but right now it wouldn't be in our interest to let him go without a ready-made replacement. Partly because he is our most consistent player and the one that most of our play revolves around (20+ assists) and partly because of the message it sends to others who we might like to keep (and not only those out of contract in the summer). If we can push on and gain promotion then Elliot's value increases exponentially if he continues to play as well as he has. If a Premiership club comes in at that point we would have to let him go. If not I am sure he will have a contractual clause allowing for a salary negotiation on promotion so he need not necessarily lose out. Of course if we don't get promotion then he will be one of many who will be leaving.

FWIW personally I'm afraid I don't think Norwich will get near to automatic promotion but will make the lottery that is the play-offs and I really hope you don't spend too much chasing the dream because inevitably you will crash and burn. Your current financial position is just not strong enough to be taking chances

Three times higher wages than who?

It will be interesting to see if he plays today. If he is in the 18 man squad then we can pretty much ignore this thread as there is no way we would play him if a deal had been agreed. If he doesn't play, then the conspiracy theories can start although Poyet will no doubt say he was rested.

I think if we let him go, we need two players to replace him. A like for like replacement probably won't setup as many chances so we need a more prolific striker too arguably. Monday will be interesting as I can't believe that we would let Bennett go without an alternative being lined up (although there has been the odd mention of a player coming to us from Norwich as part of the deal).

no we aren't btw. we were 2 years ago before we got a new chairman and chief exec. now we're well on our way and actually 1 year ahead in the 7 year plan. plus on the field we've gone from a team of useless mercenaries to quality players who care. i'm guessing that's why bennett wants to join the norwich revolution.

whatever, enjoy your seven year plan sounds like something the communists came up with and we all know how that ended,

yr 1 sell car park to raise funds
yr2 overspend on futile attempt to reach the big time
yr3 manager goes onto bigger job, club releagated, administration beckons
yrs4-7 repeat above steps

important to go on the pitch at the start of every year and shout lets be avin you, or someother shit

is delia still at the club btw as i believe you owe her a fair wedge hope she doesnt get bored, or the demmand for her books on how to boil an egg doesnt dry up.

you. one of your fans posted our respective wage bills

Where did they get the information? Football has always been very secretive about wages and I doubt a poster on here would have access to accurate wage bills from Norwich and Brighton.

i suppose it depends on how unhappy the player is

i'm sure poyet said he doesn't want players who don't want to play for the club

we shall see!

Bitten my tongue for long enough now, mike79 why don't you take all 13 fingers along with all your other relatives and just f*** off back on your tractors to east f***ing anglia, bored of you polluting our board with shit about you trying and failing to buy Bennett. Look at the facts, the man at the top has stated in black and white that it it not happening now politely do one :tosser:

yeah she's still here as majority shareholder but been very quiet the last couple of seasons since the new regime came in

i think they've told her to stay out of football matters and leave it to the experts

regarding the communists, i'd say we're much nastier than them these days!
