Oh ****

That means huge 3/4 of an hour queues through the brighton university again!

I will have to join the " leave 10 minutes before the whistle " brigade

I can see problems with the neighbours though , if this paragraph from the article is true .

"The club was granted planning permission by Lewes District Council last summer to make amendments to the layout of spaces on the 1.5 hectare site and install 12m floodlights."

12 million floodlights are probably a few million too many.

Mr Bennett has cost himself a pooh load of money.

Mr Bennett has cost himself a pooh load of money.

Mr Bennett is an extremely wealthy man, he really doesn't rely on the income from Bennetts field in any way. From what I understand, he dug his heels in after the clubs lawyers started dictating to him what they were going to pay.

Good on him.

Really? - the loss of one season's rent for an improved long term deal. ???
I have been reliably told, (although I think it was in confidence so sorry I can't flesh it out) whatever figure you were thinking the club was paying, it's not even close.
Your figure may well be one '0' out.

To give that sum up even for a year as well as shelling out on solicitors etc, in order to close a deal that was profitable, mutually beneficial and one for which he was, by being the land owner, already holding the aces.
Means he's got the greatest deal ever or as cost himself a pooh load of cash.

I appreciate that but nevertheless even for an extremely wealthy man we're not talking change down the back of the sofa.

There's clearly been a blinking competition, what you say would point to an odd approach by the club considering it's Bennett's land.

Maybe it's floodlights that cost 12m. If so, the Club is being ripped off. You could buy a striker for that.

Yeah but not one you could see from outer space.

How cool would that be.

Well seeing how we have managed quite well this season without it (and I agree with granny weatherwax that the majority of traffic moved better without it) I can't see that Mr Bennett had all the aces he thought he had.

I wonder how many of the people who moved to the Uni car parks will now want to move back and wait for 40 mins after the final whistle

Be good to have it back. I've missed watching the carnage and fury on peoples faces, as they attempted to exit the field before us peasants in the bus queue.

I suspect that the club were more interested in a long term deal connected with the proposed hotel development. Whilst the proposed building doesn't encroach onto Bennett's Field there would be very limited parking for visitors without it.

I parked in Bennets Field for 2 the first 2 seasons and I can honestly say 12 million floodlights, stewards that direct traffic or entertainers employed to keep drivers entertained to stop them from slitting their wrists could get me to park in there again.

Then stick him up front on his own until he becomes worthless!

I think the m is for meter and not million... Singapore uses about 1600 for the GP so I don't think we need 12 million. Maybe they are £7,500 each and we need 1600. Either-way, poorly written article and my head hurts. I wasn't at school the day we did math.
