What I would regard as reliable sources (as opposed to Tw*tter etc.) like te Beeb and SSN have been very quiet about this - at least, I've not seen anything about it except on here really. The BBC today have come up with the news that he's returned to training with Arsenal, ending with the following quote from Mr. Waistcoat -

Speaking before England's 2-1 quarter-final loss to France on Saturday, manager Gareth Southgate said: "Ben left for personal reasons. We made that very clear and I think, especially in this day and age, it is very important that a situation like that is respected."

End of story, I think.

No, Ivan Toney who was being investigated even before his first selection in the squad for a friendly and who was cooperating fully with the FA over incident and who hadn't made a bet on any match he had been involved with.
And so far hasn't been found guilty....

This is what i have read... How true, no one knows.

"Things are said to have got heated when White turned up to a team meeting ahead of England’s Group B clash with the USA not knowing ‘vital information relating to his personal stats’.

Holland was also reportedly ‘less than impressed with White’s poor knowledge of England’s American opponents’"

This does link with Ben himself confirming in an interview that he didnt watch football growing up, just loved playing it. I'm sure he said he still feels the same and it's just a job. Maybe why he knows nothing about USA.

Story (ie gossip) won’t really end until the real reason comes out……

By the sound of the manager, it is private. I appreciate that some members of the public demand to exercise their imaginary right to know about everything about anything. I am more than happy to leave it there.

if part of the job is to watch some video and familarise with profile and stats of the opponent, can see why they might be miffed if he failed to prepare.

Yeah but this is usually managed by the coaches and analysts.
It's not as if he was set homework and failed to hand it in on time.

Personally I don't believe a word of it.

Neither do I, because if it got so bad as to send him home that shouts poor management.

That said I can see the players being set 'homework'.
It's a long time away and not a jolly.
It wouldn't surprise me if players were tasked to bring presentations to 'the class' just to focus their minds.

Feel sorry for Ben. He's been superb this season. Feel the truth is in the middle. Suspect he had a run in about homework but that isn't enough to be sent home. Something has happened in his personal life and that plus the management's doubts about his focus has meant it was deemed best he went home.
People should respect his right to privacy on this one imho.

Tosser. Me thinks he’s spent more time under the glow lamp than he has on the training field.
Don’t know why but all of a sudden I’m starting to dislike him a bit. I think the England stories where he apparently acted like a petulant child to staff whilst representing our country coupled with my dislike of Arsenal under Arteta and the fact he seems to be a pretty boy footballer with it all going to his head and wearing shit clothes but thinking he’s the nuts… That and the fact he only played for our first team for a season and mainly without fans… I just don’t really feel an Albion connection to him.

I think he’s a good footballer too - but not a good defender. He just gives me the ick now as the kids would say 🤷🏻‍♂️
