There’s also the point at which an offer allows you to improve your side. Liverpool selling Coutinho for gazillions and buying Van Dijk and Allison probably the best example. If we sold one of White or Biss for £50M and bought Edouard and Sarr with the proceeds, we’d be a better side overall.

I believe the entire ethos of the club is to sell players for £xxm when the club is ready to promote the next hairy man child into the first team.
Not spend the profits elsewhere.

And yet we did when Stephens, Dunk, Bridcutt (initially) , and by several accounts, White, wanted to move on.

But none of those were 'big' clubs. Assuming Chelseas interest in Dunk was mainly paper talk.

A Liverpool or Arsenal come seriously calling, expect to sell. But I don't think the club will initiate it, just to ensure a conveyor belt of talent. It might be a long term strategy, but not necessarily one we'll force.

Liverpool can't find any more than £1m up front for a CB at the moment when they are absolutely desperate for one.

Arsenal are being bankrolled by the BOE just to get by.

Neither are spending £30 to £40m on a player this summer.

You can count out Spurs and probably Everton too

White to Spurs.....no
Webster to Spurs.......yes

They are barely solvent.

They've been hit by loss of fans more than anyone.

Only if they sell Kane will they have any money to spend at all

Apart from Kane who would be suitable in a swap deal for Webster? Asking for a friend.

I think Son would suit Potterball more if I'm being honest

Bielsa confirmed in press conference today that Leeds' last bid for White was for £30m.

In the Athletic on August 19 2020 they reported that Leeds had submitted a third bid to Albion "of a guaranteed £25 million, plus additional clauses based on individual and team performance. Leeds are indicating it is the final offer they will make for the 22-year-old central defender, who starred in their Championship title-winning campaign on loan from Brighton."

I suspect, therefore, that Bielsa's comment was referring to this same bid, indicating that the add-ons would potentially have amounted to £5 million.

More than likely correct, this is not so much a re hash of targeting White although I’m sure he would like him.
More of a reminder to the board, if you want to stay up and not do a Sheffield United next year, remember we need to spend and big. He’s posturing and subtlety suggesting the defensive frailties evident are not his fault, he tried to address them with White...

Move along

Sheffield United did spend big last summer.
