I’m not sure if Ben is on LFC’s radar as they seem keen on Kablak a Turkish CB from Schalke.
It may be a smoke screen but Ben White has become quite a headline in the transfer gossip mill so JK May have decided to look elsewhere.
This is great news because I think we deserve to see him in our new kit playing for us in the league.

It’s been said before on here but playing under Potter at the Albion and being introduced gradually to PL football rather than being thrown straight in the deep end as Leeds main man in defence has to be a better idea? He may turn out to be a superstar from the off if chucked in but he could also end up losing confidence and form which he’d probably struggle to rediscover. The step up from the Championship as a defender and forward is a massive step.

Best for him to stay patient and see how this season goes imo, which is almost certainly what will happen unless his head has been turned, and there’s no reason as things stand, to think it has.

Leeds may take the division by storm but it’s far more likely that they’ll find it a tough transition. Playing like Bielsa wants them to without a big upgrade in players throughout the team is likely to be a rude awakening after the gloss of being a newly promoted confident side has worn off.

Wait....what??

Are you seriously trying to suggest that Ben White, whose manager two seasons ago reckoned he would eventually play for England; who was reportedly attracting the interest of Liverpool and Spurs around that same time; who has just played every single minute, and been an absolute star, for Leeds United's Championship-winning side - are you seriously trying to suggest that there are OTHER CLUBS who are tracking him and would like to sign him?

It is such a preposterous suggestion I cannot believe it to be true. You're pulling our legs.

Off to palace then.

Dear oh dear. What an utter non-story this all is.

There were discussions within the club and amongst albion fans about whether Ben would be ready to integrate into our PL squad last year. We were even having the same discussions the year prior, such is the degree to which we rate his potential.

The club decides he needs one more loan spell, preferably at a Championship club challenging for promotion. We tie him down to a new contract and flat out refuse any talk of a buying option as he heads off to Leeds.

He does as well as most albion fans and the club expected him to, perhaps a little better, and now we can think about how he can be integrated here.

How well he has done could perhaps suggest that he would have been ready last year, but then the Championship is much more forgiving than the PL and his latest loan will have given him a lot of confidence going into a tougher campaign.

Unfortunately the truth is quite boring and doesn't make for many headlines or talking points. This combined with the fact that, in order for Leeds fans to understand the facts, it would mean having an acceptance that #teamslikebrighton are using the astonishingly mighty Leeds united as a stepping stone for their highly rated academy prospects.

"Bielsa made him the player he is"

Let's put this one to bed right now. He signed on loan on 1st July 2019 and Leeds forst game was on 4th August. Ink barely dry on the loan (with no option to buy) contract by the time he was thrown in for the first game. Unless Bielsa is genuinely an alchemist, Ben arrived as the fully formed article.

Here is what the wackos at Waccoe said about him in their player rating thread. I've missed out a few comments because they were repetitive, but you get the drift.

Rating: Universally 8 or 9 out of 10 - with more being 9/10 than anything else.

Comments:

Outstanding

The two centre back performances were the most pleasing

like he's played there for years.

Solid, composed and dependable with flashes of brilliance, absolute beast of a debut performance (would be MOTM if not for Pablo

excellent on the ball, strong defensively, very impressive debut

White was brilliant. Good on the ball, positionally fine, very mobile, very confident. Having seen him play, I’m suddenly waaaay more relaxed about losing Pontus

Ben White as good as we hoped he'd be

Have to say White was fantastic. Suits our play and an upgrade on PJ in that respect

Composed and comfortable on the ball, a good debut

Very comfortable on the ball, slotted in seamlessly and performed well above par on his debut.

Excellent debut. Very strong, very composed in possession, very good aerially.

Very classy ball playing centre half.

Top top debut, never looked under any pressure with the ball and made a few very good defensive stops, potentially pulled off a blinder signing this kid - shame there is no agreed fee.

Brighton factually.....
"The other point to consider is Ben White has only played in Brighton's first team twice in the first & second round of the EFL Cup four years ago, Ben only made six appearances in their reserve team prior to being sent out on loan to Newport, Peterbro' & Leeds, so Ben won't have any affinity with the Seagulls first team players or their coach Graham Potter"

Nope none whatsoever, and why should he have an affinity with a club that signed him, nurtured him, sat him down and said look Ben, we think you can make the first team, we believe in you so much, we are willing to invest in you, advise you which clubs have come in for you as we think you are capable of playing in a first team and think Newport would be a good starting point, ending up at Leeds which we see as YOUR FINAL STEPPING STONE before you return to the fold and join the first team....

Nope none whatsoever.....

We really don't give a flying shit about Ben White, he's so shit lets send him to Leeds United....

Either way you look at it, they talk bollox

idiots

HKFC nailed it in 2 words:-

'Pontus who'?

Ask 'them' if they wrote Pontus Who, back in August (they did, they all did)

If they say yes they did then they are diminishing the 'Bielsa effect'.

But if they say 'no, I never wrote that' (they are lying) then they clearly know nothing about football.

Can’t see any “top” clubs moving for him until the next window after this one as they’ll want to see how he performs at PL level.

Please can we get him to sign a new contract and announce it with a proper "signing video" which is just a montage of Leeds Twitter banging on about how he really wants to go there cutting to a grinning Ben stood on the Amex pitch in the new shirt?

.....and saying how much he enjoyed working with Bielsa, and that he thinks he'll be a huge success at Barcelona. :O
