Its all down to money though. If Leeds offer what we want and White wants to go to them then it will happen. Contracts are broken quite happily when money is involved. Leeds are def in danger of doing a Fulham but Im yet to see any body language from White that says his heart is with Brighton.

Why would there be any body language that says his heart is with Brighton? He's been focused on winning promotion with Leeds. Next season he will be focused on winning points and pushing the Albion up the league, potentially winning an England cap.

Im now of the opinion that if it came to it Leeds would find a way to pay. Even if its around £25M with add ons of £10M/20M for a completed first PL season and England appearances. Leeds will want to keep the foundation of their defence. White has had an incredible season with a club who have a huge following and have the history to go with it. I don't see White choosing us over them assuming Leeds offer the money being asked. Of course Liverpool/Man City etc. may well come in which is fine for us but complicates the decision for White.

You make it sound like we are both bidding for White and he has a choice to make. He is our player. There is no choice to make. He signed a new contract last summer

I agree £40m looks too much, I was just going by the quoted figure. Based on Webster and Mings sale prices last season, £30m is probably not unrealistic though?

It wouldn't be Leeds or a rival buying him though would it? Unless the Saudi's or whoever take over, they're unlikely to be able to afford to buy at that level I would have thought. It would be to the likes of Liverpool or similar if we do sell him who can afford to take a bit of a punt at £30m.

Maybe 30m, if Covid hasn’t distorted the market.
You’d like to think we would play hardball on this to any suitor - ‘pay what we want, Or no deal’.
I could see a £20m plus Appearance add ons. Stick a chunky sell on (if he went to a non-top club) to that and it’s a decent deal. The sell-on would be a massive factor in a transfer like this.
Personally, I’d rather he stayed. We’ve got a real talent on our hands and I’d like to see him in the stripes, whatever the money.

I hope your White

I've got considerably more chance of being right than you.

The only caveat I'll put in place is if Mr Bloom has been hit hard by Corona, but even then it still wouldn't make sense to 'cash in on White' when his value could potentially double in 12 months, while still holding onto other lesser but valuable assets.

Mr and Mrs use the same username so at any one time, it could be him or her.
Having said that, they have different styles and I don't think Mrs Starry has posted for quite a long time.
Oh, apologies then. I remember well some of her moving posts. They are both excellent posters, I always enjoy reading their contributions.

No they won't. They can't commit the major part of their reported £50m player fund to secure him. They have too much to do in that squad.

Inc paying £15m for a player they don't want. :lolol:

He’ll be an important member of the squad next season, his style of play is exactly what we’re trying to achieve throughout the team.

If it had to come to a choice sell Dunk or sell White who would people choose. Dunk is older but has held the place together and I am not sure there is any really evidence he wants to go and has proved time and time again his value. I would keep Dunk...

But we don't need to make that choice. Just keep both

Would it be good business to sell one of our most exciting prospects to a potential relegation rival next season?

Unless they offer silly money, I can't see Tony Bloom letting him go to Leeds.

100% this.

I am staggered some Albion fans don’t see this. We have a fantastic prospect, there is no huge gain for us selling for £20 odd million when that price could treble potentially in years to come.

We would also be helping a relegation rival. Again, just amazed some here don’t get this.

We are keeping Ben this next season. There is no way Tony would entertain a deal bad for us on two levels. Now if Leeds offer insane money (60m) that may be different. But that seems unlikely.

What a signing we have already. Well done everyone at Albion, the youth academy paying dividends now.
