Let’s be honest - if Duffy is on 40k/week and has been a first team player, and we want White to replace him I’m sure his agent is pushing for at least that deal.

Either we don’t want him on that wage because perhaps it sends the wrong message to other U23s, or we want to be sure we can offload Duffy first before committing to that kind of money.

Or he knows Leeds will pay 50k/week odd and if we are turning down £30M bids then his agent will be saying we should be paying wages in-line with the bids we are rejecting

Connely and Alzate have just signed new contracts, They have both earned their rewards. It will come to White in good time.

What about Matt Clark? Hopefully he will be rewarded also. We have plenty of other excellent younger players.
Which is something i thought i would never say a few years ago!

Two clubs in the Leeds/ Bradford area i.e. Leeds and Bradford surely! You also don't mention the huge Rugby League interest in West Yorkshire.

LUFC do have a very large fanbase though...anyone would acknowledge that.

I meant of any real relevance.

They are essentially a 1 club town and that includes the general area.

It's akin to saying Brentford cut into Chelsea's support or Bolton cut into Man Utd's local support.

RL support is fairly irrelevant, often people up there are fans of both.

Similar to the major Lancashire RL sides really.

You do realize how big the Leeds-Bradford area is don't you?

It's much larger than Liverpool and it's not shared by two clubs.

Kinnear has stated that with TV revenue, new kit deals and a new major sponsor, they are forecasting Leeds will be in the top 7 of EPL revenue earners in 2020.

West Ham were 7th with revenue of ~£190M in 2019. Tottenham were 6th with ~£365M . Leeds will slot in somewhere probably north of £200M.

Everton were 8th. Brighton were 15th with £132M.

Leeds revenue absolutely dwarfed the next largest in the Championship and that includes the likes Fulhum, Derby, West Brom, Middlesbrough, Forest, Swansea, Cardiff etc.

You can talk shit about them as much as possible regarding White, call their fans ****ing idiots etc, but their fans rock up, they pay their hard earned. They are one of the biggest kit sellers in the UK and have 30k on their waiting list for a season ticket at ER, they would be able to sell it out two times over this coming season if the fans were allowed back.. Commercially, they are a huge club. and given any sort of ongoing success, probably have as much potential growth to reach the next tier of someone like Tottenham's revenue level as any other side in the league.

Including your beloved Everton.

They haven't broken the bank buying their way into the league under Bielsa, infact they've spent basically nothing in the previous 2 transfer windows. Low wage bill etc means if they consolidate in the PL, they will probably improve fairly rapidly with a lot of net income at their disposal. Especially when you think how much Everton and West Ham have unloaded in the transfer market recently and they will have very comparable revenue levels.

So enjoy the shithousery, but hope like hell they get relegated, because you have all of about 12 more weeks to enjoy any sort of financial advantage over them.

Leeds were getting large revenue back in the 90's, big crows, selling lots of shirts, still ended up in administration.

Brighton factually.....
So Leeds want Ben White, who can blame them, cheeky bid, who can blame them, some of their fans are slightly arrogant and deluded, who can blame them, we all have fans that look through rose tinted spectacles

This will rumble on for another month, Ben will more than likely be in the starting 11 for the Albion, after a few matches Ben will become the focus of match of the day or football focus, pundits will start to deliberate over Bens skills and future, probably with the opening line.....

“You can see why Leeds rated him so highly” or “Leeds really shaped this lads future” or “Leeds, Leeds,Leeds,Leeds” :shootself

That will irritate me more than Leeds bidding for him....

I'm sure Leeds have a good opportunity to improve their sponsorship and match day revenue. I'd be pretty amazed if it overtook Everton's though. And having 30,000 on the season ticket waiting list is all well and good, but pretty useless unless you redevelop the ground and increase the capacity. However, there is a problem with earning all the extra money that the EPL grants you....you have to spend a lot on decent (even half-decent) players, and you have to pay them a lot. Ridiculously, the extra £100m pa doesn't actually go far!

The real test for Leeds will not be how much you can earn, but how well it is spent. I think Radrizzani knows that - hence the Leeds transfer budget is not (yet) of Fulham-esque (or Villa-esque) proportions. Leeds fans fume at little old Brighton for rejecting bids around £25m for White. Yet we bought an untried CB from a Championship club last season for over £20m....a decent player, but almost certainly not with the same potential as Ben White. That's the challenge facing Leeds now.

Andy Naylor has reported it in the Athletic so there is no reason to think it isn't true.

Hi AZ I guess you already answered this, How does the 1 year extension work. Do 1 party both parties have to agree to extend, so if Brighton say we want to extend and Ben White is not keen what happens.I can trust you with the correct answer, thanks.

Well I guess Webster is the benchmark - good championship season, we paid £18M+ for him , but turning down £25M for White. So you’d have to assume contract is around that level I guess - or the agent is at least pushing for that

If the club want to extend, then they can extend. We did it with Vicente in 2012.

Not forgetting Huddersfield, who are also in West Yorkshire.
Most people in Leeds prefer rugby league.
When I worked for Yorkshire Electricity, we could have as many comps as we liked because Elland Road wasn’t full, and I was made redundant in 2002.

They like to think they are a big club.

All of Leeds aspirations come back to Bielsa. I would just love to see him fall flat on his face in the first few months. I have lost count of the promotion managers lauded as messiahs who very quickly loose their jobs.

Just like you James-talking sense and explaining it in a way all them there Leeds folk might understand. I liked the inclusion of the Webster deal for some perspective but I fear it will go over their heads faster than Concord swiftly followed by Ben White Bingo regulars-"Bielsa made him the player he is now", "He loves Leeds" and "25 Million is a fair price-Brighton should just take it and move on". You know they're coming, as we all do.

Frankly, I've had enough of all of the Billy Big Bollocks nonsense from the World's most entitled fan base so I hope Liverpool, Utd or another big club make the Albion an offer that is impossible to refuse-especially if we get to loan White for the coming season. Leeds fans would be apoplectic.

So I watched a 4 min compilation of BW one thing struck me, will he be given the freedom to play like that against much better sides?? The shorts highlighted him running at the forwards and midfield working his way through them before passing, not sure he will get away with this in the PL

Well of course.. I think that should be obvious to most of us, we respect there’s a huge step up to the PL. Leeds fans don’t.
