I'm just not a fan of selling White to Leeds. That's why I responded. I've never thought of a sale to Leeds as a win-win.

According to Naylor we don't need to sell.

So why strengthen Leeds in any sort of way? Why give them this boost they SO DESPERATELY need? Why give them the missing link to their Championship winning side?

We always need 3 teams to finish below us. Leeds may as well be one of them.

And why give up on a player we've developed for 6 years into quality centre-back? It's not easy to attract quality to Brighton, especially without a shout at European football. The youth system should be taken advantage of at this stage.

I've said all this before... I really should go do something productive. Wait for tomorrow's "news".

well said

A third offer? I hope Mustafa isn't handling our transfer negotiations

Leeds are a huge club and I’m glad they are in the Premier league. I also hope they beat Utd in the old war of the roses. However Ben is a product of our carefully planned development. The point of developing a player is to bring them into the first team when they reach a level. Potter will decide if he has reached that level and then sell him if he hasn’t.

I live in Manchester, obviously. Loads of United fans live around me (yes they don’t all live in London). Anyway, the one thing that makes them laugh is the hate shown to them by Leeds. They couldn’t care less. Now Man Utd and Liverpool, that’s another thing entirely.

At the end of the day, Ben White will have to prove he is good enough for Brighton. He has no experience in the premier league, but apparently one good season in a poor Championship makes him the new Bobby Moore. We have cover at centre back, players with the experience of the premier. We have White for another 3 years, under contract. If he is silly enough to not agree to a new contract he can play for the U23, or we sell him for the best price, if it's Leeds then so be it, but I think the deal will be in excess of £30 million with add on and hefty sell on clause.
My gut feeling, White will be a Brighton player this season. We can take our time Leeds can't.

His agent is desperate to get him a new contract this summer.

All of this is pushing for either a big offer from the club or a move away.

Part of the game.

Looking at the agent's profile this is a big deal for him and his career, future clients.
Lots of pressure.

Thing is clickbait for Leeds Utd must be by far the easiest way drive traffic to your website & generate advertising revenue.
It's a ghastly model but that's just the way it is, unless you charge a subscription like the Atlantic etc.

They just got promoted after 16 years and they have a HUGE fanbase in the top ten in British football.
Sadly we are part of this circus.

The issue is somewhat bigger than just Ben White. Personally whilst white looks class, he’s untested & I firmly believe we would be foolish to split the Webster / Dunk partnership. Can we keep a player who’s allegedly worth £30m plus as a reserve. Regardless a player worth in excess of that money should surely command £100k per week? So how much are Webster & Dunk worth if they are ahead of him ?

Regardless of contracts signed; any player would not wish to stay at a club when he would earn a fraction of his salary elsewhere. The flip side he leaves and a reserve starts earning £80k per week at another club, what does that signal to players who are ahead of him?

It’s a mess but illustrates the biggest dilemma in football atm. Wages and transparency of the opportunities elsewhere.

I personally would sell him and use the funds to sign a top goal scorer. Where to ? The highest bidder preferably with a sell on clause if it’s not a Man Utd, city or chelsea.

They're really not a 'Huge' club though. This year the championship winning season they averaged less than we did in our promotion season and every season from 2012 to when we went up in 2017 we averaged more in the Amex every season in the same division, than they did in Bellend Road. They've got a pretty big world wide fanbase and the old Leeds had its Halcyon days half a century ago, but you cannot compare them with the top cubs in size or stature. They're wannabees

No doubt a load of JCL's, plastics, day trippers and woodwork fans will come out now theyre in the PL to supplement their championship average (thats less than ours) and i do not thing we're bigger, but they are not a huge club by any stretch

If I was White’s agent I’d be doing EVERYTHING I could to get my client a new contract BEFORE the season started.

Because despite all the potential and belief people have in Ben..... if he struggles with the step up he won’t get the contract that his agent will be pushing for now.

I’m sure that’s why the club are quite relaxed about it .... 3 years left under contract so why give him what his agent is demanding at this stage.

Seriously though can we afford to forsake £25m plus if we’re not going to play him. The choice in my view is play him or sell him, if he’s left in the stiffs everybody loses most of us as our asset depreciates in value.

Its definitely easier for him at Leeds, Leeds is like low hanging fruit. There, he's a bigger fish in a much smaller pond (squad talent), here there are much better players to compete for places with. Compete against high quality CB's or fill the only spot next to Liam cooper. Of course he knows that.

Looks excellent in that highlights reel but if he tries some of the stuff he did on there in the PL he will be ending up with egg on his face and we’ll likely have conceded a goal.

Completely agree unless you play for a top 6 club or against a team with a man down.. The levels between the leagues are ridiculous. Not just Ben but the whole of Leeds will soon realise this.
