who says we've even offered him a contract? Whats wrong with the one he's already got?

According to all the Leeds Fans in the know Ben White keeps rejecting them. Which doesn't sound like good business sense to me given we can keep him at the club until June 2023 on his current deal if we want

Wonder what level of salary Brighton have been offering White in these contracts.

Valuing him at 40million would suggest, what 40k-80k a week?

I'd suggest (as others have alluded to before) that this is the reason for the lack of agreement on a new contract so far (I think it's safe to assume we will hear as soon as a deal is done and I doubt very much the club hasn't opened up negotiations as that would be a very bold move if not!).

It would be contradictory to on the one hand value a player at, say, £40m, but on the other to offer a weekly wage commensurate with a £10m player...

Then again, it would be difficult to justify paying him more than the majority of the squad.

Known here in Leeds that Bielsa has issued a list of players he wants signed before he commits to a new contract. These range in each position from difficult to probable.

With Bielsa, they are playing with Dynamite. Safe as it goes, but when messed about with it explodes.

I don't think you know what Irony means. We know plenty about players signed for our youth team. As this thread from, I dunno, a few weeks ago shows. When we signed...... Jensen Weir. :lolol:

https://nortr3nixy.nimpr.uk/showthread.php?381424-Youth-player-transfers-2020

The post you quoted wasn't belly laughing at anyone. It was pointing out the relative quality of transfers so far.

But then you know that and were just trying a bit of the usual deflection and straw clutching which your fans are clearly "World Class" at.

What he doesn’t know is us buying Weir for £500000 meant they could pay their staff as we paid in full which we have done for other sides as well.

Which is a nice touch.

Although I'd hazard a guess that what he doesn't know is "very much at all".

When Ben White signs new contract with Brighton it will be when it is right for both club and player. At this point Leeds fans will be telling themselves that he was never that good.

When Bielsa rejects his contract offer at Bellend Road the Leeds fns might be saying something similar.

All this for a player who’s has one good season in the championship, Webster had similar, so Ben White will probably be being panned by whatever team he plays for supporters by around November time. :lolol:

The step up between the championship and this league for defenders is quite ridiculous, stepping up from Bamford & Mitrovic to the likes of Aguero, Sterling, Mane, Salah, Pulisic etc is almost a totally different sport. Ben White was good for Leeds in a possession dominant team, will we be possession dominant in many of our games next season? Who knows? Don’t get me wrong I know White had a fantastic season but he could quite easily not cut it, that’s the reality of how tough this league is for defenders.

yep, we've lived and breathed the reality for the last few seasons. Leeds are about to for the very first time. Only difference is that we went into it with our eyes open, they on the other hand seem totally blinkered.

When we got promoted I went to a wedding at the Marriot near Leeds Station. So many Leeds fans told me how it will be a tough first season. They have a very different opinion of themselves.

No offence, this is why we think you’re all deluded. Where have you got this idea that Ben wants to leave from?

A couple of Instagram selfies?
A silly tweet from a few Leeds fans?

It’s all in your head. We loaned you a player. He’s come back home. That’s it...

By all means carry on with your national #freebenwhite campaign. But honestly it’s quite pathetic at this point.
Starting to sound a bit of a fool yourself to be fair.

Have i mentioned any of these things?

If you read replies from muppets, no doubt you will start to post in a similar vein.

Any club who bids on a player knows that player is interested in joining them beforehand.

It doesn’t make any sense to sell him before pre season starts imho (not like Bloom is short of a few quid), why not let Potter and coaches make a full assessment, could still do any deal in a month from now if wanted. In the meantime with every day he spends in Lancing with far superior players, the will he/won’t he desperation increases at Bellend Road.

The Leeds board aren't really the problem here - they know, as our club have for a couple of years now, that White is a class player. They may well have put out a few offers to see if they can get a nibble, so no shame in that, although you do wonder why they'd spend half their transfer budget on one player.

No it's their gobshite classless fans giving them a bad name again. They have absolutely no idea where they are in modern day football's pecking order. Mind you, nor do the bookies it seems - both Albion and Leeds are 4/1 to be relegated next season according to oddschecker! Now I can't see us going down, but 4/1 look like tasty odds for a team still trying to buy former loan players so that their squad is top half championship standard!

Did you fancy Johnathan David?

So did you just bid for Johnathan David? Yes or No

What did he say about his desire to move to Leeds after? That’s right, he said he had zero desire to play for Leeds.

Yet again you’re propagating the fantasies you have told yourself so many times, you believe your own bullshit.

Club likes player, club makes offer, selling club either rejects (end of story) or accepts, in which case the player is given option, quite often player then doesn’t want to go...... that’s in the real world, somewhere a long long way from la la land.

On Augustin, if the contract is written in such a way as you suggest, then you are trying to renege on the deal based on a technicality. I don't much care either way, but it's money you need to account for until it's been through the courts, or a settlement is reached.

I'm not being naive, of course clubs talk to players or their agents in advance. But you Leeds fans are making wild assumptions left, right and centre. You don't even know if Ben wants to stay with Leeds FFS. He's not said anything publicly that indicates that, and he's probably not been saying it privately either - at least not where anyone has managed to capture it on film.

You don't know if he's unhappy at Brighton or wants to get out, so pretty much everything you lot are basing your argument on is your own love of Leeds Utd - irrelevant to everyone else, including Ben, who has played with you for ONE season. You need to get a grip, you are the ones coming across as tinpot and pathetic.

The only facts we have are that Leeds want him and Brighton don't want to sell him - as they have said many times. Even if Leeds have secretly promised Ben £50k a week, he cannot go there unless Leeds pay whatever monstrous number it would take to convince Brighton to sell. Ben is obviously not an idiot and won't pass up the opportunity to play football in the Prem by sulking and refusing to play. Gareth Bale can do that. Ben White cannot afford the risk

As above, we don't have to get into specifics of what is or isn't known by people close to Ben; very few will be privy to that information and rightly so. White has been very professional about the whole saga.

I will re-iterate my above post, any club who bids on a player knows beforehand that player is willing to join them?

Doesn't mean the move will happen, doesn't mean he won't go onto have a successful career at Brighton, doesn't mean we won if he signs for us . . . it's just what it is.

Regards

Whilst I agree with your overall sentiment, I would say we were much more of a possession based team this past season than previously. This is a combination of the Potter style and having PL standard players to carry it out. Still a work in progress but heading in the right direction. Leeds, on the other hand, with their 2nd division squad will be lucky to see much of the ball at all in the big boys league.

Why did you bid for Jonathan Davids when he was 'fixated' on a move to Lille ?

Absolutely. And I want to find out while he is playing for us :)
We really are in a no lose scenario with this one. He cost us nothing and developed through our plan for him.
Worst case scenario is he does not cut it and we get 10 million in a years time, best case he is a true rolls Royce and we get 60 in a years time...
I think he will be good enough, hence we wont sell unless its to a top 6 side.

And at end after the facts that prove your hypothesis is horseshit, the author starts from the same point of every deluded Leeds fan........ that nobody could possibly refuse or not choose Mighty Leeds “maybe he used us to get a better deal at Lille”

How about maybe you bid for a good player (with zero interest in Leeds) and whilst the terms were acceptable to Genk the player like the rest of the footballing world saw a move to a newly promoted team with a championship squad as not that enticing.

Doesn’t quite fit the mental model does it.

A pretty much guaranteed relegation battle, possibly followed by a drop in salary following relegation as even the mighty Leeds wouldn't be so arrogant as to not have relegation clauses in player's contracts...............oh, wait. Maybe that's part of Ben's thinking too eh ?? Chances of a second season in the Prem are much better with a team in it's 4th season than it's first.

Came out of the blue did that link and hard to know what to believe at times of course such is social media and every f****r thinking he is an ITK journalist. Our go to guy who writes for 'the athletic' has close ties to the club and has told us the players the club like and will chase. This guy and others like him were not mentioned.

We are led to believe that Leeds were interested but It could have even been a phone call from our club to theirs asking about his situation. However that link may have been used to raise the price that Lille eventually paid since the player wanted to go there and apparently wasn't interested in other clubs.

From his pictures and general play - yeah, the obligatory youtube collection - he didn't look a Bielsa player at all and looked well out of shape. No-one really was fussed about him. As Villa and Brighton have found, very easy to throw money at European based players who cannot cut the mustard.

Think you're grasping at straws a bit here to make a point but . . . you are not alone.
