Ben White could be a Leeds player if the Qatar consortium that is involved in PSG also buy into Leeds. This has been reported as a strong possibility if they get promoted.
But they would still need to pay a very large sum of money to out bid Liverpool.
I hope we see him at Brighton next season, but I'm realistic enough to realise that if a bidding war started that Tony might cash in.
Leicester sold Maguire, Mahrez and Kante for big fees and it didn't seem to harm them too much. They just had more money to buy their top targets.

They were able to sell Maguire and improve because they had Soyuncu ready to go and three years younger. But their results dipped after they sold Mahrez and Kante. Now if we could sell Dan Burn and replace him with White ...

My understanding is that we would not be able to do that after January though....

Clearly.

The rules are that loans can only be recalled in the January window, so there is not a loan agreement in the country that can be recalled after Jan 31st.

No sense what so ever?
Everyone has a price, even Messi.
It's just a case of deciding how much it is.

I don't think anyone will bid enough to persuade Tony to sell him, but I'm not so blinkered to think that it makes no sense what so ever.
It makes absolutely no sense to keep Duffy at the top of this valuation.
Sell White at his first valuation, no matter how high, Mr Bloom will expect it to be higher.

No sense to sell both.
No sense to keep both.

25m? Chelsea can do one. Our Tony wouldn’t accept that.

We want him back. It’d take a huge bid to even consider it.

Its pretty easy to forget that Lewis Dunk is a top level PL defender and that both Man City and Arsenal, as well as potentially a few other big teams, are desperate to find a good central defender, especieally a British one. I dont think Dunk wants to leave and I dont think Brighton wants to sell, but as we all know some numbers are too good to reject both as a club and as a player.

If he would go in January or in the summer, I could see both being useful. Especially when I wear my Potter glasses:
In Östersund Potter had a player called Bobo Sollander who was definitely pretty far from good enough to play at the highest level in Sweden. The guy was a real leader though, and Potter even asked him out of retirement because of his leadership values in the dressing room. Sollander was used very sporadically. If the team went into a slump, failing to win a few games or playing poorly for a while, Potter would play Sollander just to get more leadership on the pitch. Parts of last seasons Swansea Routledge & Dyer was used in the same way.

If Dunk left I think Potter would be very reluctant to let Duffy go as well, despite his mismatch with the new style of play. If he is fine (or at least ok) with being pretty sparsely used, Duffy could stay for a lot of years.

Disagree, absolute waste of a short career by a very good defender. For his sake I hope we would make it easy for him to leave should he decide he doesn’t want to spend 90% of the time on the bench or a being a fill in defender.

He is too good for that.

Well we sort of agree then because I think only he should stay if he absolutely wants to (and I also think he "shouldnt" want to). The rule number 1 of Potter has always been that if someone wants to leave, they will try to arrange it as it is very unhealthy to have players around that really want to leave.

Not going to happen in my opinion.
He will stay at Leeds come back to us have 2-3 good PL years and if he’s as good as everyone thinks he is when he’s 24 or so he will be off for mega money that will dwarf maguire to united few. No sense in selling for 25 million now

I agree in principle, but how unhappy would Ben White be if we tried to keep him at little old Brighton for 2/3 years, when he could be on £75k a year at Chelsea, in Europe and probably on the verge of an England call up.
If we were a top ten club with a chance of Europa league places then it might make a difference.
I would imagine TB would ask for £40 million which is what reputedly Ake would go for with add ons if Chelsea win the league and also when he plays for England.

I'm sure the poor lamb would be absolutely distraught, having to struggle by on a paltry £40K a week for a couple of years.
