This is hilarious. Nearly as many people hated Roberts as they do Henderson (calling him coco every week). Same thing with Brighton fans again, always looking at the past through rose tinted specs. You all, or most of you hated Roberts when he played but love him now.

For the record I rated Ben Roberts as a very very good keeper and would love to see him battling it out with Hendo as Brighton's No. 1. :clap2: :clap2:

I was thinking this before I reached your post. Totally agree with everything you've said.

i make that point quite often - although in fairness i think far less people hated roberts, although there were still some fools who thought kuipers should play ahead of him, even in the run up towards the play offs:jester:

I will always remember him for running out of his goal unneccessarily...

...to join in the mass brawl that resulted from Sammy McIlroy throwing the ball into Hardings stomach at Stockport.

Not suggesting for a second that this is relevant to the current Hendo / FDM borefest, but I always rated Roberts.

It is tangentially relevant to the borefest as much the same carping that Hendo had to put up with was also directed at Roberts. Funny that.

I think he is looking for a part time club.

His back isn't up to the professional game anymore.

But you wonder why he didn't take the insurance then? It suggests he wants league football?

From the sound of the article, it sounds like he wanted to have the option there to return, whereas others in the past haven't been able to, like Mike Marsh and David Norton. I'd be amazed if he did play professionally again, but the best of luck to him ... possibly my favourite Albion player.

We could do worse than to sell one of ours and have him as back up. Problem is a load of clubs wanted Kuipers if he was free but didnt want to pay money for him. So it is back to Henderson being the obvious No 1 and Roberts if he is cheaper than Kuipers as back up.

That penalty save from Mooney is the best ive ever seen, It hit him right on the forearm (of steel) and somehow got it away. Fantastic player and the best keeper ive seen for Brighton.
