I don’t buy the ‘no job’ scenario. Do we really believe RDZ came in and said I really need to work with Andrew Crofts as a coach, give him a job please. Roberts maybe different as a specialist coach. But really they all saw an opportunity for a big pay day and took it

Tony always wants to ensure coaches with ties to the club are involved in the managers set up for continuity and relationship purposes
No. I suspect the club said Bruno’s gone, we’ve got this guy called Andrew Crofts, a former player, who’s doing a great with the U21/23s, has the qualifications and qualities and it s a great link with the first team squad. Do you want to have a chat with him?

We could find a place back here for him, I'm sure, to the great benefit of Big Bob. That might be worthwhile forgiving and forgetting for?
When Chelsea came to the amex, he was on the pitch at half time putting in crosses for Mendy's warm up. As he was setting to put the crosses in, the north stand were doing the goalkeeper chant 'ooooh you're sh..'. At one point he feigned kicking it and gave the crowd a finger wag. What I'm saying, is he seemed to understand the pantomime of the situation and wasn't all sensitive about the fans giving him a hard time.

To me, that was the best way to handle the situation, he didn't act like we were out of order for being upset they all left. Playing into it was, in its own way, quite respectful.

I would have no problem with him coming back, but, as others have pointed out and you've acknowledged, there are some complexitiies that may need to be worked out regarding the current keeper coach.

I'm guessing RDZ's goalkeeping coach, Ricard Segarra, might not be impressed!!
Tho as TB is reportedly 'hoovering up young English goalkeepers', there will probably be a need for additional goalkeeping coaches within the club at various levels

I disagree, every manager since the Amex has had an ex Brighton player as a coach. It’s no coincidence

It wouldnt have been a case of RDZ saying he has no place for Bruno/Roberts, or that he had any specific needs for Crofts, but at the time the Chelsea offer was on the table for Roberts/Bruno Brighton had not secured a new manager. We had our eye on RDZ but it was a few weeks before an agreement was complete. So when the Potter to Chelsea move was happening could Tony 100% guarantee a place for Roberts/Bruno/Crofts within the coaching set up? No he obviously couldnt, as he didnt know who the new manager would be & didnt know what his feelings would be about said coaches. It was a stick or twist situation for Bruno & Roberts, they could have turned down the Chelsea offer, but thats a risk as they couldnt have known what RDZ would want. Even if Tony was 99% sure a new manager would be fine with them staying he wouldnt be able to completely guarantee it. They could have found themselves jobless if they turned down the Chelsea offer and a new manager insisted on his own coaches. Its a bit of a different situation for Crofts as it seems like he was never requested by Potter in the move to Chelsea, so he could take the chance that he'd fit into the new managers set up here.

That’s because Crofts was U23 manager under Potter, and then got put in interim manager with Lallana while we hired RDZ.

If Bruno hadn’t of gone with them he’d have been interim manager and will 100% of been given a space on RDZs coaching team

They had a decision to make before that, at the moment Potter left. Possibly with no idea who the next coach might be or at best, some knowledge of who the club would be talking to. No one believes it would have been a case of no job, but the roles they had could not be guaranteed and could have ended up working with the U23's.

Impossible to say for certain before the fact though.

It wasn't a few weeks. Potter left on 8th September and RDZ was our manager on 18th September so just 10 days.
Very few managers would change a GK coach or the U23s coach. Yes, they might like their own assistant or trainer. but Potter was fairly unique in taking 7 staff with him when he only brought 4 in.

I'd happily take back both Roberts and Bruno if it didn't mean current members of the coaching team getting booted. I'd say they'd be welcomed back by the players as well.

I have almost 100% confidence that TB would have seen a club legend like Bruno ok in the new set up.
I see Poch wants Paul Mitchell too - sporting director at AS Monaco (until end of season) and Poch's former head of recruitment.

Treading on Paul Winstanley toes, I would think..
So the whole gang might be out on their arse within a year. What a dose of Karma. Double Karma in Winstanleys case after he stabbed Potter in the back lol.

That's a load of bollocks, at least in the younger age groups. Maybe U18 upwards it is true.

These guys always do the dirty on those below them to save their skin. Little realising that they'll shortly have the dirty done on themselves for exactly the same reason. Oh well 😀

This is all very well, but in the highly, highly unlikely scenario they ended up with no jobs here once the new manager started, then I really can't see Boehly saying no if Potter decided he wanted them on his coaching team a couple of weeks after joining.

They can dress it up any way they like, but the fact is they went for a big payday, just as a lot more people on here than would care to admit would. Supposedly Bruno got a million quid a year contract. I wonder how many people would turn that down.
