I wonder if quite a few folk can’t be bothered with the distancing rules anymore, with some getting quite angry in being told what to do?

In Sainsbury’s West Hove, until now shoppers have been well mannered in my experience. But today a fat tattooed bloke who literally stunk, made a detour for other shoppers including me, brushing past us. He looked narked, imo he knew what he was doing. Then families had gathered in aisles, mingling, catching up on gossip, refusing to move when politely asked by people who wanted to get to products.

Just a minority, but it looks like the Invisible mentality is creeping back in.

More traffic on the roads too. Last week near desolate, today we cycled to the Dyke, with countless cars passing.

Working in Hobbiton (Lewes) for Sussex Police today and nipped out to the Tesco down the road from Police HQ to pick up some bits and pieces (as in not even a baskets worth) and there were people coming out of the place with trolleys piled high.

The Supermarkets must actually be loving this ridiculous behaviour, I'll bet they have never seen turnover in March/April like this...

Go to Lewes Tesco at 5:30am in -1 temperatures, as we had last week at that time, and you’ll have a queue already halfway round the car park waiting for it to open at 6, go at 5pm and there is no queue at all. Strange times.

On a somewhat different tack, which Supermarkets have the best piped music. Morrisions seem to play some quite classy stuff, at least two Motown classics on Saturday.........

I haven't heard piped music in a supermarket in years. I don't shop in Morrisons but as far as I've noticed those that I do frequent, Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Sainsbury's, Asda and Waitrose don't play any music at all, so I suppose Morrisons win by default.

The Co-op in London Rd used to have an excellent selection - I'd shop there just to get a blast. They played lots of soul classics from the 60s and 70s, not sure whether it was Co-op policy or just Brighton. Shame it closed

Just my luck to shop in all the locally available supermarket chains apart from the two that play piped music.

In fairness, we are being told to shop as infrequently as possible, so this would likely have been the "big shop" to prevent the necessity of having to go back again in a few days time. I'm trying to keep my supermarket visits to a minimum, as even with the queuing and distancing practices, its still by far the most risky part of my week in terms of coming into contact with a load of random herberts.

I'll pile up not because I'm stockpiling (I'm not), but just so's I can stay away for as long as possible before I have to run the carona-gauntlet again.

Member of staff on my last Tesco visit - was cleaning a shelf directly under something I wanted - I asked if I could grab a box and he said 'of course, go ahead............', but simply stayed standing where he was, right in front of the boxes I was pointing at.............

Most people were respecting the rules but there were a couple of gormless goons that thought it was OK to fill the gap between distancing people with themselves and their trollies. The same ones kept doing it at various points around the store. Yep, up against the wall..................

Must be something about Tesco!

My local devised a one-way system. great idea. Except that two staff were blocking an aisle having a gas and refused to budge out of my way.

The aisle blockers weren't wearing masks. But the girl on the checkout was even though she was standing behind a plastic wall. She then proceeded to mumble into her mask so I couldn't hear a word she was saying.

M&S have limited number of passengers in store so was waiting in line. This daft bint had been let in, she picked up a basket and then stood in the window making a phone call and doing no shopping whatsoever.

This sounds remarkably like my visit to Tesco in the Holmbush Centre earlier on today. The store has done a very good job of making it plainly obvious that there’s a one way system, there’s obvious lines highlighting the 2m distance marker, but countless ‘older’ folks just marching around with that look of ignorance and entitlement slapped across their sour faces.

Those twats should be slung out and banned from the store. If you won't follow the rules you shouldn't be allowed in the shop.

In the last week, many supermarkets have also stopped allowing children in, so I need to make sure I get enough in that one shop because I don’t want to leave them home alone more than is absolutely necessary.

The son is 15, I'm sure he could cope for an hour while his mum goes and tries to buy everything in the local supermarket.

No wonder there were stoppages with idiots like this.

Of our local supermarkets Tesco seem to be the best organised to minimise the risks with lots of "2m" markings and a sensible "one way" system. Gears were ground by the following:

1. Fat daft bat and equally fat daft bat adult daughter holding a conference about each item they were thinking of purchasing.
2. People without shopping lists - they should be made to show the list when entering and if they have not done went sent to the back of the queue to write one (paper and pencils could be provided ).
3. Those gazing in wonder at the goods for an unreasonable time - on more than one occasion I was tempted to ask "our you thinking of buying something or trying to memorise everything on the shelf".
4. Man in mask looking at Crunchy Nut cornflakes and for some reason being unable to make up his mind to buy small or large box. Part of the entry test I am devising for shoppers in this crisis would be "are you aware that the price per kg is displayed on the shelf label so you can easily compare which size box is the better value"

Good that some stores are enforcing a "one person only" limit. I did have unkind thoughts re a mum and two young sons (admittedly both very well behaved) in Morrison a week or so back but then noticed she looked almost guilty to be shopping. I will in future take the view that any families I spot do not have access to someone to baby sit and that their partner is probably on their sixth consecutive twelve hour shift in a local hospital. Unless the kids are being little s**s.


Apart from that full sympathies to all supermarket staff (included oldest Potting offspring) in these challenging times.
