It’s not “sit down, shut up” though is it. That’s what a number on here are trying to suggest - but it’s simply not true. Jack has acknowledged that what happened at the back of the stand at Fulham was dangerous. The club can’t and shouldn’t ignore that. An email saying “please could we ask everyone to play nicely” isn’t going to make any difference to behaviour. This email has got people talking and thinking about it.
I agree it was dangerous, but I don't necessarily think its always the fans fault, Fulham is one of the oldest grounds in the league (maybe the oldest) there are a lot of flaws to the seating and way its laid out.

If they're that concerned about it, why not stop selling alcohol at football matches?
Obviously people drink before hand but if it's not available at grounds then I presume the heinous crime of chucking cold liquid up in the air will disappear.

Cake and Eat it springs to mind.

actually htought the celebrations on the stairs at Fulham up there with some of the best this season. Was on the end of a row and joined in. Was like the old days

Only saw smiling faces. No one died , Any injuries are what has been happening for decades ( if any) , it wasn't dangerous

Nanny state nannying softies

The age profile of NSC is directing a lot of this debate.

When I was 20 something I acted like a total bell end at away games, I had an incredible time, I cemented my love for my club and I feel the current crop of 20 something year olds have the right to do the same.

There are limits of course, no violent behaviour, no racism. But throwing a few beers? Fine it's an away game. Standing in a corridor? Lethal behaviour. Lethal! Bundling forward when there's a goal? I think when McShane scored at Palace I ended up about 8 rows forward and on the floor. Maybe not the safest, but if I had the right to create these memories for myself, so do our current crop.

It's an away game, so I won't take my kids. When they are old enough to mix it, they can go

I should say, I don't doubt there are a fair few who are old enough to know better who are still getting involved. Again, whatever. It's not lunch with the King. Go enjoy

f***ing pathetic as always from the club re away support. Really are removing the fun of an away day. Beer throwing, get that completely, weird thing to do. But the rest is all part of the fun. I go to let loose and be relaxed and make tonnes of noise, not be told what I can and can’t do like a f***ing child. I am not condoning acting like a dick but if I want to sit with my mates and people around us are OK with it, then that’s what I will do. As for surging, it’s part of it, always has been, if those at the front don’t like it then maybe sit elsewhere? It’s part of the celebration and noise, plus the players encourage it and it means fans bond more with the players. Disgraceful email and as another said, just paving the way for SHIT tourist atmosphere and support. Oh to be potg in League One at times 🙃 see below as another good point.

Maybe Barber needs to introduce a new ‘surging’ section on away tickets

Surging is ok, but telling people not to sit at the front if they don't like it, is selfish. The older people, those who have been going for decades, those who can't stand, will sit at the front, but they don't want to be trampled or stamped on when others are celebrating goals.

Even the old folks will stand to applaud a goal, so don't presume they're joining in the celebrations, means they can tolerate barging, and shoving.
I gave up going to away games because of it. The last time I went to Selhurst, @Biscuit rushed to help me before I got seriously injured. The stewards were useless.

That stand also has the feel of a temp stand made perm, the stairs have 'give' in them, it's like a bigger version of the temp stand they put up at Sussex CCC but with a roof on.

And too easy just to blame it all on youngsters.
Anyone over the age of early 20s that thinks it’s ok to smuggle a pint into the stand and throw it over fellow fans needs to have a good word with themselves.

I’m not saying it’s right for anyone to throw beer but it doesn’t surprise me when I see young lads that have just had their first pint doing it to impress their mates.

BINGO!!!!!

I've said this before at the Amex - they want more people in seats at the kick off, at the end of the 1st half, at the beginning of the 2nd. SO CLOSE THE BARS THEN. Simple. Instant case of job done. The thing is that they won't because it's money, money, money. On this point the club are utter hypocrites.

Every club is the same.
