That’s a shame, but to brand everyone who thinks this is all a bit patronising as that, is a load of shit really, its not just football it’s through all of society. IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO ALL TRAVELLING SUPPORTERS

The club have received several reports of bad behaviour by Albion fans during our recent away games against Fulham and Leicester City.

Specifically, some supporters have been congregating in large groups in aisles and gangways resulting in dangerous overcrowding which risks injury to themselves and fellow spectators.

We are also aware of other instances of unacceptable behaviour including throwing beer over fellow supporters and surging forward when we score, which has resulted in injury to other fans.

The overwhelming majority of our supporters behave impeccably at away games and the players are grateful for the fantastic backing they receive. We cannot allow the actions of a small minority to spoil the enjoyment of the majority.

We urge all our fans to behave responsibly when representing Albion at away matches.

We will be increasing our own monitoring through extra liaison with other clubs and the vigilance of our own travelling stewards.

The club will not hesitate to impose sanctions on any supporter who misbehaves in future. Possible penalties include a significant loss of loyalty points or stadium bans

As a matter of interest, I had assumed you pasted that on behalf of the club, to remind the more excitable and selfish element to behave.

Most of the replies seem to think you are drawing our attention to a complete loss of perspective by the club.

It would be interesting to know whether I am right, and my previous plans to luzz bottles was misguided, or whether you are calling for a full-out 'Barbs OUT!' protest.

I think someone whose tail I appear to have tugged this evening would also like clarification.....

If comments on here are typical, remind me not to go to any away games, where pouring beer over people is ok and people couldn’t give a monkeys about the safety of others.

I didn't appreciate getting showered in beer at Fulham.
But the surging is to be expected at an away game.

It feels a little bit premeditated to be honest, but I'd rather we had a boisterous away end.

Bozza forwarded a message reminding us to not be twats. And it triggered a load of outraged hyperbole (not all of it serious, but some was).

I was annoyed by the reaction. It was as if *bloke's rights* were being denied. Hence the gender related quips. I'm a graduate of the Danny Boyle school of comedy, and perhaps it doesn't come across as intended in blank verse.

To be fair every year at Fulham the fans who cannot bear to stop drinking until a minute before ko pile into the stand and can't be bothered to find a seat so just stand in the aisles.

As for surging, come on getting bruised shins is all part of an away game

I have never had an urge to surge forward. Usually if we score a goal I am jumping up and down, not trying to jump on the people in front of me

I used to go to 10 or more away games a season. But that was when we played the likes of Exeter, Carlisle and Colchester. But even then, I'd head for the edges, away from the headbangers.

When I was 18 I'd be in with the headbangers. But that was 1976..... Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment. Neat, Neat, Neat. I am an Antichrist. Etc.

The problem is when you are forced to sit where your seat number dictates. 'Proper' stewarding is not a thing. So it isn't right when the young intimidate the old and stop them seeing the match properly and being blocked from the aisles.

If there were more than 20 lads under 40 who read NSC I would say, lads, think of others, please.

But this is largely a geriatric and middle aged board so all I can say is do what I plan at the weekend:

Bring plenty of *Worthers's originals, some buds and possibly a good book, and hope for the best while expecting the Wurst..

*My German ex-GF insists these are German sweets. Pronounced Vairters. Hold that thought.....

Exactly, the seats at most of these grounds are tiny, there’s no way you can fit everyone in a lot of the time, but if you don’t want to be a dick and stand on someone’s toes or stand in front of them, you naturally end up in the aisle. To suggest anyone who does that is on coke is a load of nonsense.

Seats are an average size if any1 has a bigger backside maybe they need to purchase 2 season tickets just like 2 airline seats. Gangways must be kept clear for safety reasons.
