Barnet manager Martin Allen has left the club to take over at Second Division Brentford.
Allen, 38, took charge at Underhill a year ago in his first full managerial role and has guided Barnet to fifth place in the Conference table.

He will succeed Wally Downes at Griffin Park, who was sacked this week.

"Martin's enthusiastic and knows our players. He knows the area and his goals are the same as ours," said Bees director John McGlashan.

"He had all the right qualifications and has done his apprenticeship coaching at Reading," added McGlashan.

Brentford are second-bottom of Division Two after a dismal run.

Cambridge United have parted company with player-manager John Taylor.
The 39-year-old had been in charge at the Abbey Stadium since January 2002 after a long playing career that included two spells with the U's.

He could not prevent Cambridge slipping into Division Three in his first term in charge and managed a mid-table placing last season.

This season, the U's have struggled to find consistency and are just six points above the relegation zone.

Cambridge's vice-chairman Roger Hunt said he felt the club had no choice but to relieve Taylor of his post.

He said: "It is with deep regret that the board has come to this decision.

"Sadly, given the current position of the club, we felt that action had to be taken to avoid the possibility of relegation to the Conference. "Personally I feel the board must share in this responsibilty when we have had to sell our best players at crucial times."

Taylor's former assistant, Dale Brooks, has been named caretaker manager until a permanent replacement can be found.

Mad Dog is f***ing mental.
As soon as we sacked him we started playing confidently.
He gave the players shit if they made mistakes.
He was a bully.

That's because he and Pardew were too similar.
There's a lot of Reading fans would welcome him back as a foil to Coppell cos he and Dillon are too similar.
