Or it's somewhere down the middle? The players we brought in were pretty good, but perhaps not quite good enough without an Ulloa replacement, and it's not just their fault but also the system they're working in?

Or the players are just not good enough for the system.

Change the system then. Only a poor or overly proud manager would persist with a system that clearly doesn't suit the players at his disposal.

I stand by what I was saying in mid-August, which is that Messrs Bloom, Burke and Barber so mishandled team affairs during the summer as to leave the club woefully unprepared for the new season.

That does not mean that I should wear a nappy when I go to bed. That is simply how I saw what was happening and how I still see it.

I agree there, but we do have everyone saying they enjoy watching us play this way, with more shots on goal. So as a manager, how does he change the system because the fact is he only has strikers that can't hit a barn door.

Widen the opponents goal to 11 meters across and 11 meters high?

Totally.

I think this squad is pretty good. (It would be even better if there was serious competition for places, but as ever injuries prevent that)

I think the system is poor.

As I said on another thread, I actually think the system/style of play we had previously would be fine. In fact it may even be better as the midfield is now littered with players who IMO have decent passing.

I always said the new signings were poor, Baldock never pulled up any trees for West Ham in the Championship and is another League 1 calibre striker at best like CMS, O'Grady was a bizarre signing and a panic buy and would never be good enough for a play off chasing team, Holla is not as good as his fans make out and if he was that good would have been snapped up by a better team than us, McCourt hopeless overrated as he has a beard and his play on Saturday showed he would never be good enough for us, Stockdale was a good signing and i'm sure he will come good, Toko another Dobbie bizarre waste of money and Hughes seems pointless now that Dunk and Greer have cemented their places.

Sorry to say he worries me for various reasons. 1 He is going to get lobbed one of these games and 2. The second goal on Saturday. Seen similar from him before.

Even my boys grandmother was worrying about Stockdale being so far from his box... a gift waiting to happen!

Yes but that is admitting the players just aren't good enough and I can't see Sami doing that

Not necessarily. It's admitting he's got the wrong system for the players he has. Maybe the system isn't good enough, not the players playing it.
