Definitely got to put some pressure on the kids to do the right thing. It's called parental guidance. Can't let them go off supporting whoever they want, just like you can't let them eat what they want all the time - otherwise you'll end up with obese kids in ManUtd shirts everywhere!

Exactly, class mates at school can brainwash others, my son had a birthday party when he was 11 and most of his classmates turned up in Arsenal shirts, and he went to school near Lewes, I was very proud that he didn't follow the crowd and that he decided to support my team.

And you don't seem to understand the concept of years of reinforcing upon young minds of who they support and why. Your scenario is not going to happen.

It's worth pointing out that my children were told constantly that we hate Palace the club but don't hate their fans because, like us, they support their local club. They were told to reserve their contempt for their schoolmates who are plastic premiership fans. Kids are merciless at school at any perceived weakness and my two like many young Brighton fans in the noughties were teased because of their football allegiance. It's important to point out who the 'true' fans are despite your ridiculous definition to the contrary.

My youngest son goes to the same school near Lewes as my other son did, with the class full of Arsenal plastics.
There is one boy in his class that supports Birmingham because his father comes from there and supports them along with his older brother, another kid supports Hull and I'm sure there was an Ipswich fan, I'm not sure if many kids in the school support PL teams.

My boys both take notice of the Premier League and big teams like Barcelona and the youngest collects Match Attack cards but they have never asked for another teams shirt apart from BHA and England.

My two boys were 'encouraged' to be chelsea fans , they are now 10 and 13, since weve had season tickets at the amex the oldest considers himself brighton first and chelsea second, which im happy with,the youngest wont be swayed though , hes still chelsea first brighton second.

I think they have the best of both worlds, they support their fathers team and their local team.

Exactly this - was only having this conversation last night.. kid's seem to support players as wells as teams these days, more so the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar etc. They still have their team (Albion obviously), but like to follow the best players because that's who they aspire to emulate... All I have heard the last 5 weeks is Neymar this, Messi that - is Neymar still in the World cup...

Exactly this. I had quite a few United tops as a kid because I idolized Beckham.
