Exactly, I couldn’t even tell you who won the Carabao Cup or the FA Cup last season

I do remember Burnley winning at Anfield to inflict their first defeat at home for what was probably years

Albion beating the Foxes will cause a small ripple, Albion winning at Anfield would require an inquiry into how the feck this could happen :lolol:

Um..... we also won at Anfield last year - and it did NOT stop the football world on its axis. (And, like you, most people posting on this thread seem to have forgotten it). If we do it again there will NOT be an enquiry as to how the feck it could happen. There might be one or two raised eyebrows, but not as many as last year when we were struggling against relegation. It definitely won't be a major shock.

If we lose to Leicester we're out. Finshed. Over. If we lose to Liverpool - meh. We beat them last year, can't expect to do it every season.

It would be a major shock. When was the last time a team beat Liverpool at Anfield in the league twice in one calendar year? How do you lose to Brighton at home after winning 5-0 away on Old Trafford?

People would be surprised.

Might as well beat Leicester.

By virtue of the simple fact beating Liverpool is absolutely meaningless and will have no bearing on the season.

I think you get 3 points for a win in the Premier League. The number of points are used to decide the position in the league.

No, in a week or so it'll simply be one of the season's footnotes. Same as last year. Hopefully I'll be able to prove it to you! :)

If a PL win at Anfield is a footnote, then what is a 4th round Cabbage Cup win against Leicester..?

Oh, less, much less. But the nature of a Cup match is if you lose you're out, whereas if you lose a League game, especially an early season one, you've a chance to make amends. In the League it's the accumulation of points that's important, and over the course of a season you'll pick up points where they weren't expected/deserved and also drop them when it wasn't expected/deserved. In terms of terms of 'result value' a sudden-death Cup game is worth more than a League one - no matter how prestigious the opposition.

And Brighton have never won a Cup and I would dearly love us to before I die. Lose to Leicester and that's one more competition gone.

A place in a cup quarterfinal really shouldn't need explaining, yet here you are.

I've had a look and this question for the next round is:-

'place in the semi's or beat Brentford?'

I'd love for the answer to that to also be 'semi final please'.

But for that to be the case we'd have to do the business against Newcastle, Leeds and to a lesser extent Villa.

Disagree, Burnley were the team to end their run. We did brilliantly but a poor run of form by them and no crowd devalued our win in the media after Burnley had won there (and there is no fecking way I forgot we won there btw :lolol:)

Winning on Saturday would be MASSIVE. I really hope I get the chance to be proved right

We WILL NOT win the Cup and I am 95% certain of being proved right about that a long time before the final…

Actually I was wrong. If we'd won the Cup then the game against Leicester would have been MUCH more than just a footnote, it would have been seen as one of the most significant results in our history, part of our glorious march towards our first Cup triumph. (Yes I know we won the Charity Shield in 1910, but that was just a one-off game not a 'proper' Cup competition with rounds).

Anyway, it's all academic now, it's just another Cup defeat and as usual at this juncture of the season I'm reduced to saying: "Oh well, there's still the FA Cup." We'd better bloody well beat Liverpool now!

EDIT: And Icy, you've got to be in it to win it!
