Very harsh, Harry.

The mods identified the need of a section where elderly white men showing clear signs of early stage frontotemporal dementia could ventilate their neurotical obsessions about race issues in a safe environment.

It is no more of a septic tank than the average psych ward or hospice. Be nice.

i say old boy.....!!

All very familiar names, Bear Pit stalwarts. Respect  for your collective doggedness, albeit to a tiny audience these days.

I still post on the Brexit threads on there because it's starting to become abundantly clear what is happening and what were lies and what were facts from the last 4 years. It's also going to have a significant impact on the members of NSC and the country as a whole.

But apparently, it's the subject that 'thou shalt not mention it's name' on the main board

I totally understand your concern and angst. I genuinely voted Remain. Looking at travel arrangements to Europe yesterday evening for 2020 and beyond, it’s quite a shock at how more complicated it’ll be, several hurdles .... back to travelling in the old days. That’s just me from a selfish holidays angle. I’m fully aware of the wider trade and economic implications.

My view on these NSC non-debating insult threads is (from the Brexiteer angle), is that unbridled hatred against all things Tory including the likes of imho decent people such as Rudd, was always going to get a huge pushback. Aggression, hatred, personal attacks, always get peoples backs up, so they reply in kind. Portraying (EU duplicitous) Corbyn as a hero, was further fuel to the polarised fire, it became very party political. Ending any chance of debate. Both sides as bad as each other, Bozza had to act. Imho the vast majority of NSC visitors aren’t like us, they don’t want to see wall to wall political and economic binfests, they’re here for football, help and light relief. I know two NSC members who immediately returned once the Bear Pit was established.

Imho you’re right btw. I’m currently sorting out my SIPP’s, I think I’ll swerve UK equities in the main. I recall you mentioning that you’d sorted your affairs already .... were you like minded?

I always thought that banning individual posters was the way to manage the Brexit thread, but not my call.

If you actually read it these days, there a very few insults (which could easily be resolved by giving a couple of posters a thread ban) and it is more like a catalogue of the changes that are going to happen as a result of the various kinds of Brexit (11 weeks till we find out). All of the serious defenders of Brexit have had their claims totally disproved over the last 4 years and those that haven't disappeared off NSC completely never show up on the Brexit thread to defend it anymore

I think that the worst thing about Brexit though, is without that Leave vote, Johnson, Cummings and co would have got nowhere near power and we would still have a competent Government in Britain at this critical time, regardless of the colour of it.

As far as myself is concerned, after the election last year I finally took the advice I had been paying for for many years and moved a significant part of my assets offshore. This was much to the enjoyment of my IFA and Accountant who I had been winding up for many years, keeping assets in the UK, paying myself by PAYE (despite having to pay the top rate of income tax), refusing what I considered 'dodgy' investments all in some sort of pointless attempt at patriotism

But following Brexit and with the election of Johnson, I figured it's every man for himself and I have been stunned by what I have been giving up until know just because of my principles. I could have retired 10 years earlier

As a result of Johnson getting in, for the first time I have looked into Private Healthcare. I'm just waiting for the Brexit details to get finalised, as I believe my IFA, together with a Health specialist has come up with a fantastic wheeze for getting long term health cover for my extended family, funded from offshore assets, avoiding both Income tax and IPT as a result of Brexit.

And who says there are no benefits from Brexit :lolol:

Sometimes you just have to follow the money, follow the Mogg, follow the Dyson, follow the Radcliffe and dare I say it listen to John Redwood.

As it happens I was looking at the general year holiday planner for the company I work for in regards to 2021 earlier and as well as an existing frantic internal recruitment drive of staff into PMI and generous salaries now being offered, good luck getting leave for anyone who works in that sector of the business next year, because there isn't much. I can't imagine why.
