brighton, actually
as seen on twitter, and also Beachdown Festival 2009..

i'd streer clear of anyone offering cheap day tickets!

Dear All

It is with immense personal regret that the Directors of Beachdown Festival have been advised that they must announce that due to slower than forecast ticket-sales and lack of support at a critical time from our bank and certain suppliers that despite being so so close to being able to deliver Beachdown Festival we are unable to do so. Very simply we were unable to meet the demands that the current economic climate put against us and at the eleventh hour despite having most of the infrastructure in place we have been forced to cancel the event.

We wish to say at this time how desperately sorry we are to all those who have bought tickets or were participating in the event and to say that we all here are personally shattered expecially after eleven months of battling against the recession to try and put this event on and coming so close. We also wish to advise everyone that we explored every possible avenue to finance the event including re-mortgaging our houses to combat the unwillingness of banks to support us.

We will do everything in our power to give the best information that we can via the web-site and via email but we ask that people understand that we will also be inundated with enquiries but we will endeavour to communicate to everyone as best we can.

We ask all ticket-holders to get information from the outlet that you purchased the ticket from in the first instance and once again we will do everything we can to get as much infrmation as we can to everyone as quickly as we can.

First Pride's finance trouble now this !! Soon it's going to get to the stage where I can take my kids out on a summer's weekend and not encounter any disruption or major congestion at all!! Lets's face it us Brightonians won't have a clue where to go or how to enjoy ourselves :lolol:

The bank are wankers. They have virtually bankrupt the country, been given billions of pounds of our money and have pulled the plug on viable businessess and events. But still people go in a trance through their doors to be flogged their mortgages and expensive and inappropriate insurance products

Not all of us GG! This downturn is still still in the downward spiral no matter what Brown has told the media to say!

Something SIGNIFICANT will happen before the end of the year and by that I mean a major bank falling over!

The problem is with 90% of the mortgage market being wiped out there is no choice and there is a cartel of 4 high street banks arranging 90% of the mortgages and price fixing and selling shit insurance products to meet whatever branch target they have that week. They are allowed to do this without regulation as the FSA allow them to do execution sales with no advice and are basically order takers.

I HATE them. The Labour governement and FSA encourage this as they want them to make big profits again to repay the money.

In the meantime they are still NOT lending. Yes the mortagge figures last month were up but still around 50% down on a typical year. they will also not lend over 75% to any degree and if they do the rates are awful. Its heads they win, tails they win.

They have allowed thousands of long established business go to the wall and they would not give them any financial support when they needed it most. Ironic in that they spunked away billions of pounds gambling in the USA ( they would have made more money following your tips ) and awarded themselves bonuses of up to a millions pounds a year sometime more and then the people who paid for it are me, you and hard working businesspeople.

The fact a country like Norway has not been affected at all by the recession as they did not invest in the USA sub prime shows the difference.

Buoyed up by a government leader like Brown who sucked up to the big wigs and the FSA who allowed and allow them to carry on unchecked the whole thing is corrupt but the cycle is starting all over again.

So I say to you when you are tempted to go into your Bank and arrange a mortgage or get hooked in by their hard sell insurance campaigns JUST SAY NO !.
