I was. I remember hearing about signing him permanently after his loan signing. I jumped up and down like a child clutching a copy of the argus (cos that's how I'd heard, old skool) and tried to explain to my new girlfriend, now wife, why it was important. I do believe I was there that evening at Portslade.

On signing Zamora I went down the bookies and put a tenner on us for the championship. Zamora delivered but the bookie did a runner mid-season.

I love the less happy memories as well, like the away game at Oldham in 01/02 where he was inexplicably benched behind lone striker, Danny Webb. I will never forget the reception he got when appearing on the touchline to come on in the second half. He hit the bar with a header, then got sent off for kicking their goalkeeper. Then he smashed up the away changing room. What a player.
