What perplexes me is JRG’s claim that he knows CH.
Despite this, JRG seems to be single handedly damaging Chris’ legacy with his obsessional, one eyed, repetitive posting. Either Chris is aware, in which case he goes down in my estimation or he is unaware and JRG needs to take a look at himself and what it actually takes to be a supportive friend.

You are interested in left wing politics and Irishness and are a Hughton shill because of it. You joined here six months after Hughton arrived and hang around now only to tell people how wrong they are, usually by deflecting, whatabouting, coming up with spurious links via Google, boring the pants off people with TL;DR fifty paragraph rants and referring to "stories in the Irish press" that no one on here has read and, for all we know, you wrote yourself. Your agenda is Irishness, socialism and Hughton. End of.
I am a socialist and I make no apology for it - I am proud of my political activity and the political work I have engaged in helping working class people over many years. I will engage in political debate with others, but I do not ridicule the political views (as some have done with mine). I am Irish and proud of it - I do not ridicule other people's national identity. There are plenty of threads on this forum about English footballers who don't and never have, played for Brighton - and rightly so, given that Brighton is an English football club. There are also very many Irish players who are and have played for Brighton and I am happy to celebrate what each achieved here.

As for the Hughton stuff - yes I am an admirer of Chris Hughton - I have been since he was a talented and stylish full-back playing for Spurs - I believe that he is an under-rated manager who is probably unlikely to get an opportunity to show what he is really capable of at the highest level. But my joining this forum had nothing to do with Hughton being the manager. Yesterday I was accused of joining the forum at the same time as Hughton became manager - when I pointed out this was inaccurate, you come back and say 'but you joined six months after he became manager' - and for the case of accuracy - it was seven and a half months after he was appointed, The reality is that if I had joined years before or only a month ago - it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to some people on here - including you - because when a preconceived notion gets stuck in their heads then nothing will shift it. Hughton is long gone - I am still here - and yet I am still be accused of only hanging around to rub it in if Brighton got relegated. If I am hale and hearty I will still be here next year and will probably still be accused of the same nonsense. A cursory look at any and all comments that I have posted in the past 12 months demonstrate the exact opposite of what I am repeatedly accused of. However, some people still feel a cathartic need to go back and review history and the sacking of Hughton - why? - I don't know. Let it go - look forward to the game tonight - enjoy the fact that Brighton have another season in the PL where the club can continue to try and consolidate and grow - and enjoy the more entertaining football that Potter has been able to put on the pitch - that is what I am doing.

And you're starting to mack off 90% of the board so I suggest you start to display the honesty you demand from others.
I don't demand honesty from anyone - I suggest that maybe a bit of decency and decorum might not go astray. On occasions I can write long comments -- I come from an era before instant messaging and 144 characters - I come from an environment where you are expected to give clear explanations backed up with evidence. Nobody is forced to read anything that I write - yet some people feel the need to repeatedly comment on my posts - most of the time without even reading them.

How about - as a starting point - you take my comments at face value, that they are being posted by someone with a genuine interest in what is best for the club - and criticise them on merit. I have no problem with people disagreeing with me on anything. I enjoy a good debate and will engage with 'openness and honesty' if people want to do that. Stop jumping in just to take a swipe and we can avoid cluttering up threads with the same stuff over and over again. Maybe then we can avoid 90% of the forum getting hacked off with this nonsense. I had more comments responding to some of the other claims you made but I decided to delete them as they take away from my comments above - but I do resent being compared to a bunch of homophobes and would appreciate it if that comment was withdrawn.

That's a very long way of answering Stato 's question. You are not a Brighton fan. You do not refer to "us" at any point and claim you are only interested in our forum.

I will take your comments at face value when you stop telling porkies and I stand by every word of my post.

I consciously do not use the term 'us' - because of the shite that has been dumped on my posts over the years - and I have explained that several times in the past as well.

I will take your comments at face value when you stop telling porkies and I stand by every word of my post.
Of course you will and of course you do - I am not surprised by your comments, indeed I was expecting them - and you don't even have the decency to withdraw your bogus comment equating me with a bunch of homophobes.

That's the other unashamedly pro CH poster (the sacking was still unjustified), he openly admits that he has close family connections to him .... I think.

There are two sides to the coin. Anya1000 who has disappeared alluded to being a familiy member, others have accused them of being Palace. Either way, their assertion was that Potter couldn't match him, which has been proven incorrect.

Then there is NooBHA who I left out of my comparisons with JRG. Noo has always conducted himself with integrity, always been open that there is a close relationship (working I think) with CH and has thrown us the odd bone or two when people have been discussing goings on. He also "gets" NSC in my opinion and is therefore treated as any other member of the forum rather than as a barely tolerated guest.

I take slight issue with the term "unashamedly pro-CH" but I know how you meant it so it's fine. By issue, I mean that for years we were all unashamedly pro-CH. He did very little wrong up until the last six months. Unfortunately in the cut throat world we live in, and with Bloom unwilling to stand the club still, it was time to go. I doubt anyone has the time or inclination to check my posts before about Feb 2019 but they will be full of praise for CH. After, not so much.

Isn't the other Irish poster, family with CH .... I've forgotten his username.

I'm not the paranoid type to keep calling out people, but imho Anya is CP. He'd tried to be craftily subtle, but the dead giveaway was trolling posts about Bloom, Dunk, spending .... even for thick me, it stunk of a CP shite stirrer.

CH's brother Henry played for Palace, as we and Gerry Ryan know only too well, so there is one possible connection.

I would like to think Lawro will have us down for 1 nil defeats next year, which is an improvement on the standard 2 nil for vs 7th to 20th and 4-0 for the top six

That’s all we heard when our Tony Bloom made the choice to replace Chris Hughton.

“Be careful what you wish for”
“Arrogant Brighton”
“What do they expect to achieve?”

I won’t bring in the abhorrent accusations of racism that was seriously raised by some (yes, really..a reminder: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...-Townsend-slams-Brighton-sacking-Hughton.html)

And why was the football world so anti Brighton after sacking Hughton?

Because we, or specifically Uncle Tony, dared to look up. Dared to attempt to be more ambitious than backs to the wall defending and finishing one place outside relegation every year.

Chris Hughton will always be a legend to Brighton fans. But it was the right move, and Graham Potter has now vindicated Tony Blooms faith. The improvements to our club, tactically, the attractive progressive football we’re now capable of playing, all whilst achieving safety and even blooding youngsters.

Suddenly we’ve turned from being a Huddersfield or a Cardiff into a club that has legitimate aims of becoming mid table. We’re a club on the up.

All these experts, who arrogantly slated us as fans, slated Tony Bloom and our club in general, if they had any decency should make a retraction, even an apology, but of course they won’t.

As a reminder. Here’s a taster. This is what John Barnes was saying (“I don’t know what Brighton fans expect”):

Danny Mills told us, “you can’t play that way at Brighton”:

[tweet]1127992526445719553[/tweet]

We can praise Graham Potter later at the end of the season (and we surely will, he’s been a superb appointment and a breath of fresh air).

But tonight I raise a drink to Tony Bloom, Dan Ashworth and Paul Barber. They stuck their necks on the line making a hard decision for the betterment of Brighton and Hove Albion. They dared to show ambition and believed there was a better way to progress. They refused to settle for our lot in life.

They were way ahead of the curve, and certainly ahead of the so called football experts, journalists and pundits.

“Be careful what you wish for Brighton fans”. If the pundits who wrote such disparaging comments at the time had any decency, they’d write an apology today.

Cheers [emoji1635] Tony!
