My thoughts too, not sure how or why Shearer earns more than Gabby Logan for example.

Could easily be hours worked? These salaries are pointless anyway, what about hours and the time of day worked, what about the benefits? Lineker retraces his lost tortoise in the Maldives for two weeks all paid for by the BBC, tickets to events, clothing you get given to wear depending on what show you're on and increases in PA fees due to notoriety, the tip of the iceberg IMHO, BUT, market forces if someone could do it better for cheaper they'd go with it.

Laura Kuessenberg should be worth a lot more than Linekar. I think she is getting what she is worth but the others above her are vastly overpaid. Linekar must be on borrowed time. As soon as his contract ends his pay will either come down dramatically or he will leave. Female presenter of MOTD coming...

McEnroe surprised me given he only works on the BBC for 2 weeks a year.

Lineker, Shearer, Crooks and Jenas all to go. Totally unjustifiable salaries. The lovely Eilidh can take over MOTD.

Very surprised Fiona Bruce is quite low down considering how many programs she does. Laura K at least earns her money as she seems to work 24 hours a day. Who is Richie Anderson?

Sums it up really, I don’t like Graham Norton, but, there are others in the top 10 I do like, and the BBC has to cater for all license payers. That’s a very difficult job, and not one they will ever please everyone with.

I love the BBC but you won't find many people claiming that Lineker, Shearer, Crooks and Mohammed are irreplaceable. How do they get these contracts year in year out?

There are no less than 13 on that list that I have never heard of...

What I'd be interested to know is how many of those are on permanent employment contracts like most of us and how many are effectively working as contractors. Part of me thinks the Beeb would gladly bin off Lineker and Shearer etc given the reputational damage their wages cause the organisation, but can't because of normal employment law. The other part thinks, they are more likely to be on renewable contracts(Lineker often appears for other broadcasters of course) and could be got rid of, but the Beeb don't want to, as they are happy to pay the market rate for what they think is the best sports presenter.

Two thoughts about Lineker.

1) he only got his job because the last bloke jumped ship for money, he's certainly not irreplaceable
2) Even as (ex) footballers go he seems like the sort of bloke who would shoot his own granny, for a chance to upgrade that luxury yacht

You seem to know him pretty well. Is he an ex-neighbour, or some kind of relation of yours?

What is the truth here is that US the Great Unwashed would have to 'pay' to keep these 'stars' ? For if we did not they would all leave, good sod-off cause if £300k A YEAR is not enough go drive a bus,be a cleaner in a hotel/hospital. Funny how they have all stayed.

Those are the only two I was a little bewildered by.

When Alan Shearer and Garth Crooks earn more than Laura Kuessenberg the women still have a case.

This. Laura K works her non-nuts, day in, day out, off to try and make some sort of sense of this Brexit mess. As does 'Assistant Political Editor' Norman Smith. In any organisation where roles were awarded purely on merit, he'd just about shade Laura K to the top job. And he doesn't even make the BBC rich list shortlist. Meanwhile Shearer only has to rock up once or twice a week and spout cliched shite like 'Donkey X was Absolutely Magnificent' - which he does every time - to 'earn' his money.

And how much poorer would all our lives be without Vanessa Feltz? :wozza:

And... RELAX :smokin:

Ball, Winkerman and especially Feltz, my 3 favourite presenters, worth every penny IMO.
I mean 1 does a radio show and a strictly spin off, the other does a radio show once a weekend and 13 weeks of strictly, and my fav Van Fel as I like to call her, well she does er um...

Apparently that's just the News and Question Time figures. Antiques Roadshow is 'outsourced' to BBC Studios, and so, rather bizarrely, isn't included in the 'BBC salaries'. And presumably the other things like Fake or Fortune were either in previous years, or also outsourced.
