I would rather the England Men's Hockey team won. They are European Champions after all and don't rely so heavily on bundles of money thrown at the team.

Or indeed England Women's Cricket team have done exceedingly well this year, winning the World Cup and the World Twenty20.

Brawn are a team that have benefited from heavy investment from overseas.

Nope, it isn't. But just because the people behind the team aren't sportsmen/women doesn't mean they can't win team of the year.
And besides, I'm pretty sure an F1 team has won team of the year before....
