What about the huge revenue it makes in sales all around the world?
I have no doubt that’s true, the BBC generate huge amounts of revenue by distributing its output to other broadcasters, and years ago it would be disclosed (as it was on how much they spent on pensions and prosecuting non payers). I think (at the time) Tellytubbies was the all time champion earner.

The problem is the BBC never reduced the licence fee to accommodate this unexpected windfall and provide a “dividend” to those funding that institution.

It’s no different from those Councils imposing “environmental parking fees” or ULEZ which generate millions in additional unbudgeted revenue but still put their council tax bills up.

I’m sure they spend it wisely.
