Wigan were also above us before we beat them. And Brum come to that. Apart from us v Burnley, there's only one other club in the top 10 whose wins haven't ALL been against lower placed clubs(Forest v Leicester being the exception). Blackpool v Reading is only temporary as they'll probably go back above Reading today.

Surprise surprise, it also holds true for Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Celtic. On the other hand, all of Yeovil, Barnsley and Palace's wins have come against higher placed clubs. Amazing, huh?

Given the Wigan/Brum anomalies we probably have the best record for beating higher placed clubs. Which is exactly what you'd expect of a club just above mid-table.

Bolton - they were 24th we were 13th
Doncaster - they were 18th we were 16th
Blackburn - they were 9th we were 12th
Wigan - they were 10th we were 11th
