Your happy with Lineker getting a huge income for saying little to nothing?

Surely Vine on a quarter of his wage, and needing a vast array of knowledge should be well pissed with that.

Can you help explain the vast difference? And I thought the left would not support any wage above 50k, how do you guys really think?

I think all there wages should be capped as they have enough other freebies and perks.
In a market economy, surely the comparison for Lineker is against his contemporaries at Sky, TNT, ITV or other channels? Aren't Neville and Carragher both reported to be on £1m each? Roy Keane is on £1/2m+ for a few appearances on ITV.

Jeremy Vine's salary would in turn be comparable to his service within the marketplace.

Unless you don't believe in market forces / viewing figures etc?

It's easy to assess Lineker's worth. Compare MotD viewing figures on the days when he is there, and the days when he isn't, and see how many viewers he adds.
If that's the way to calculate these things, I think that Crystal Palace should give back their share of TV money. I always turn off their games.

You can't just take money out of a Ltd company without paying tax on it - if only you could!

They'll pay dividend tax of 39.35% on any money drawn from the company. When you consider that profits have already suffered corp tax at 25%, they'll actually get about 46p in their pockets for every £1 earned as freelance.
To counter that a little, they will likely be putting a lot of expenses through the business (before tax) which an 'employee' would not be able to do, but are effectively paying for some things with untaxed money that they otherwise would have bought with the own 'personal' money (after tax).

People typically still end up better off as a result, but the amount of take-home gained has reduced a bit over the years.

Lineker for one, is worth EVERY penny, just for the absolute RAGE he instils in the gammony thickets, every time his face pops onto the screen.
Exactly.

Remember that REALLY stupid one who’d go into MELTDOWN every time Lineker posted a tweet?

Mouldy something, I think it was.

Do you have any figures for the freebies and perks?
Unless I was hand in hand with Gary and Co, who could have this figure? We all know it goes on.
So do you feel Lineker is worth 1.3m ?
Why don't the BBC get a unemployed or homeless person doing the job?

Why don’t you have a think and try and answer that one yourself?

I don't feel the same about him as a pundit these days, but would agree that just for the frothing mouths he ignites he is worth keeping.

Greg James is the luckiest bastard on the planet. He's not my cup of tea, I don't really have an opinion on whether he is 'worth' what he gets, but Radio 1 breakfast show host is an absolute dream job. Three hour shifts playing songs from a playlist with a couple of 'whacky' interactions on the phones as dictated by your producer, finished by 10am (leaving you ample time to supplement your income with voiceover work or to do whatever you fancy). No weekend work, VIP access to festivals etc, regular contact with A list celebrities and taking home the best part of half a mil a year.

They seem to be less well renumerated than their ITV counterparts: https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/news/tv/how-much-top-10-bbc-24197535

And when you consider what old rope GB News gets for its money...

the salaries don't seem that crazy.
I don't pay a License to ITV or GB news and so am really not bothered

Mouldy Boots - my favourite.

i had an exchange with him on here soon after Boris was elected which was along the lines of “now someone nice has been elected that we can all support, isn’t it time for us all to put all this divisive nastiness aside and to come together for the common good!

yeah! Right……. I declined.

I guess the anecdotes and real experiences of playing for top teams in the world and getting to the latter stages of tournaments and playing some of the greatest players ever, trumps a decade of booting balls over an athletics track and into a car park.

That plus, he's obviously better at presenting
Do you really believe that or are you just a Lineker sympathiser/follow?
Didn't have you down as a socialist but no of course not. Everyone should get the same from the state whether they work or not
You're right 👍 They are crazy wages that the public have to contribute to, I would have thought No one would agree to on here. Tell me why do you feel he is worth so much?

To me all those salaries are nuts, does the guardian also compare Gary's hour rate as they do Rees-Mogg?

We don't pay for any of those other salaries unless WE CHOOSE TO, but they are all over paid. I am struggling with your double tier approach to wages, please explain why you feel so in favour of these super rich "personalities" ?

Please be aware about aggressive posts, I am trying to pick my limited vocabulary to suit, the more sensitive person, perhaps you could?
Perhaps you should petition for the BBC on the gender pay gap that they employ?
I am thinking of it.
