Just had to endure 30 mins of a one sided bullshit arguement. Yet again all the police are made to look the bad guys. I cant comment on every story but i know about one the stories was well and truely exagerated. And what really pissed me off was claiming that minority officers couldnt get into the firearms unit. As a former firearms officer i know that nearly 60% of officers who attempt the course fail, black or white, and its a national test the same for every force in the country so there can be be no discrimination but i guess they didnt feel it important to mention that. But hey, do a survey of one side of the story and the results will be obvious.......next week on panorama "I cant progress as a driving instructor because im a minority".....or not because it won't make good viewing. There's wankers in every job and yes in the police.....but BBC ,get over the recist police thing...its so 1980's.
Rant over.........

Often unwise to side with a programme or discount it straight off or if you have not seen anything (although you were obviously well placed). Discrimination can be relatively invisible.

Absolutely mate, totally agree. Prob does go on but annoys me with somthing so clear cut to make a comment about a unit like firearms because every test is the same throughout the country and if you arn't up to all the aspects you are out regardless who you are...but that fails to get mentioned...only 3% of the whole british police force are armed due to the high standards required and some officers i wouldnt trust with a staple gun let alone a real firearm.

Big G, When Panorama did their peice on the County Hospital the took at least 200 hrs of film for a 20 min programme. Since then I have lost faith with BBC factual prgrammes.

Agree that it was certainly working to an agenda. An awful lot of footage of the previous documentary with racist trainee officers was shown presumably to reinforce the message when that was old news and not necessarily representative. The implication was that it is and they certainly seemed to take an awful lot of allegations at face value.

Exactly, im all for exposing the wrongs whatever the subject, but again things edited and a programme made on the results of a survey of one side and even then they make it sound like all of the officers responded, which only 60% completed the survey. From what you say out of 200 hours of the hospital documentary they pick the best 20 mins to big up the ratings grabber...but hey screw the footage of the good work.

Glad you can see that aswell, thought i was off on one. Don't think anyone can really argure with that footage of the old stuff because it happened and it was real...good ridance to bad rubish. However i dont see how they can use it as any comparison to this episode and unfortunately the way the situations they are on about, ie the high profile suspensions are a million miles from that and somtimes people arnt up to the job they want but those officers mentioned are very senior officers anyway and just because they got turned down for promotion it suddenly becomes a race issue...what about the 5 ranks they have already been promoted into....didnt hear that eh...

The BBC lost all credibility after the Dodgy Dossier scandal and that liar Gilligan. I used to lawd the Beeb but I'm strictly CNN these days. I might watch Sky once they get rid of that arrogant slug Adam Boulton.
