Little bounce for this thread........one-off special has been shown, and currently available on BBC Iplayer. Covers the aftermath of Kerry and her old man being arrested for the vacuum cleaner thefts. Excellent viewing as ever

Fall and Rise of Reggie Perrin?

Haven't really taken to "This Country" although the younger Pottings like it. I have observed that the female main character wears a Swindon Town shirt.

She turned up to The BAFTA awards ceremony in a Swindon Town dress.

So glad this is back on

Very late to this, started watching a few episodes on iplayer last week.

in the same class ( though not quite as good as) the Detectorists.

Very enjoyable.

Yes very similar feel to the Detectorists, but I would place it a notch higher in comedy value.
But that is subjective I guess, genuinely laugh out loud comedy.

Agree - def a similar feel (helped by Charlie and Mackenzie being startlingly similar in these characters and appearance perhaps) and both series are absolute gems.

For all of those who use iPlayer, this is available from 7, so if you dont want to wait for the outragoues 10.35 slot you dont have to.

Early days for me so a bit unfair to compare the two.
I have re-watched all 3 seasons of the detectorists about 3 or 4 times.
Whereas so far I have seen 3 episodes of this Country.

I may revise my opinion after completing season 2

I disagree completely with this. They seem to appeal to the same people, but there is very little similarity in the two - they have a completely different feel. This Country is a mockumentary whereas Detectorist is a kind of gentle comedy drama. I love them both.

Excellent. Thanks for the head up. 10.35 was a little late for 'wine time' but this, alongside Only Connect and a bottle of red shared with my wife will make a very enjoyable early evenings viewing.

Brilliant news!

I've been checking the iplayer for months waiting for the new series. I thought it was due to return last Autumn.

My favourite bit of tv by a country mile.

Really enjoy this comedy so I’m glad there’s a third series. Very sad about Michael “slug” Seggs. He had an extraordinary life, albeit very short.
