According to SSN he was verbally assaulted by unknown person in Night Club and was advised to leave which he did.

Said verbal assailant now accuses him of physical assault.

Sound like a 15 minutes of fame type thing.

Exactly what I think. Some bloke trying to make a quick buck at the expense of the English football team. People are far too quick to jump to conclusions - it wouldn't be the first time football players have been accused of doing things they haven't done

Sorry folks but I don't reckon Rooney is a patch on Gazza, he isn't fit to lace his boots.

That's what i was thinking. Rooney has actually got better since he joined Man U - this is one of the only big stories that has come out since he has, and at Everton he was in the papers with something or other every week.

Sounds like compete bollocks to me.

Manchester United footballer Wayne Rooney could face police questioning over an alleged assault in a nightclub.
A 22-year-old student has told Greater Manchester Police the England striker assaulted him in the city's Tiger Tiger at about 0100 GMT on Tuesday.

Rooney, 19, who was with a number of team-mates in the club, is alleged to have reacted to comments about his £28m summer move to United from Everton.

Police are to investigate, but a Rooney spokesman has denied the allegations.

"Wayne was approached by a man he had never met in a menacing and threatening manner," the spokesman said.

At this stage it is too early to say if we will need to interview the man involved

"At no stage did Wayne respond. The man was immediately asked to leave the nightclub in the company of security guards."

It is believed Rooney was being taunted over his controversial move from the club he supported as a boy to Manchester United.

It is claimed that the man screamed at the player, calling him "treacherous" and shouted "once a blue, always a blue" - referring to the colour of Everton's shirts.

A police spokesman confirmed a "formal complaint of assault" had been made.

"At this stage it is too early to say if we will need to interview the man involved," he added.

Rooney was with team-mates Rio Ferdinand, Wes Brown and Roy Carroll at the time.

Rooney trained with the England squad on Tuesday in preparation for the weekend's World Cup qualifier against Northern Ireland, at Manchester United's Old Trafford ground.

Why was Rooney in a nightclub in the early hours of the morning just hours before his first training session with England before an important World Cup Qualifier? The bloke is an idiot
