There have been far worse groups than the Rollers over the years

I'm pleased to see I am in good company on this thread in my guilty pleasure of actually liking their version of Bye Bye Baby.

You haven't heard much music if you can judge them worst ever boy band let alone worst ever band.

I actually love the music snobbery of NSC.

Anyone care to admit to changing their minds about Coldplay yet, and accepting that they are a fine band???

Bye Bye Baby was a great song. However, the Rollers version was merely a carbon copy of The Four Seasons:

No. Coldplay seem like decent blokes, but they're music is dull.

So much anger for what was an inoffensive boyband from the 70s! Incredible that people are getting worked up about it.

Boybands have always dominated the charts though. The target audience are schoolgirls. There was other music around at the time, you know

For what it's worth, I quite liked their cover of 'Bye, Bye Baby'. I still do.

No anger and getting worked up from me. I'm guessing you meant me as you have quoted me.
Just my ( not too serious ) opinion of my memories of music when I was NINE, i did say I was a kid.

My parents weren't really into music in a big way and I didn't have any older siblings to educate me about music in 1974.
There wasn't hundreds of radio channels or music programmes on TV back then to learn about other music around at the time.

I vaguely remember some of the girls at my junior school liking The Rollers and The Osmonds, but us boys were all into football. I honestly don't remember many of my friends being into music at age 9.

Blimey, 70's Bands such as Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd doing comebacks I can understand, but this mob?

Rock and Pop, there is and always has been a place for both, I would prefer to see LZ or PF but you can't really compare them to BSR can you?

You may be right, they were so bubblegum I wouldn't have thought anyone would be bothered. Mud, Rubettes and Showaddywaddy next up?

Personally would prefer to see the 1970's lineups for Hawkwind/Pink Fairies/Gong/Can/Faust/Neu! but sadly many of them are gone to the Great Gig in The Sky...

If someone tells you that the original line up of the Small Faces apart from the drummer were going to reform I'd be very sceptical.

I don't own one either but I can't say that it fills me with pride. Total indifference on my part.

Worst band ever? Not by a long chalk. Worse than Vanilla? Blazin Squad? Fast Food Rockers? Vengaboys? The Reynolds Girls?

Worse than GG Allin? Pfft...

For what it's worth, I quite liked their cover of 'Bye, Bye Baby'. I still do.

Sensible post.

I didn't like them much myself but have pretty vivid memories of most of my more desirable classmates at the time being moist at the merest sight of them. Very much the Take That of their time, and ref a previous post the scarf on wrist thing was definitely them.

Please go on, what did you find offensive about them?

Other great bands such as the sex Pistols i understand why people were offended by them, they went out of there way to offend.

But how did the Rollers offend you?
They were a nasty little bunch of Edinburgh yobs, nothing like that cute boy-next-door image they traded on, and with a rather unpleasant manager. Oh yes, and a conviction for kiddie porn..........
