Me, sort of

I play rugby, but didn't take it up until 22 so missed out on supporting a team (except England), I went to Twickers in the Autumn Internationals and had a really good time, in spite of the fact the Ugo Monye is really not a full back. My sister is at Uni in Bath and I've promised to take her to a match though. What's the rec like?

Oh awfull! But the city is so lovely that an early spring visit to the rec is excellent as part of a wider day out. Also the pre booked train fares from Brighton area are as low as 18 pounds (should work for the North Somerset tourists board me!)

oh yes..sorry for the shock defeat  still i think you can win it this year.

Not sure....trouble is when we lose our internationals, it does affect the side. I know this is not uncommon

If they make the finals at Twickers this year I will be happy.

I watch a lot, probably more than football nowadays. Pretty neatral where clubs are concerned but I have soft spot for the Ospreys as I liked Neath as a kid

:nono: The MK Dons of Rugby (along with London Wasps).

:jester:

London Scottish is the team I now follow.

It would have been London Welsh (being half Welsh), but I got dragged along by two Scots and took to them. Used to watch Brighton a bit when my good friend was a centre.

The ITV Guiness Premiership highlights show is very good, which makes me wonder why they're so shite with the Champions League and FA Cu shows

As my avatar suggests .. I do (season ticket holder)

Used to live about 5 mins walk from the Rec, but now come down from W Yorkshire. My dad used to drive up from Sussex for every game, but as he's in his 70's now, the driving has become a little bit too much and only goes to the odd game.

As a ground the Rec is awful, but probably one of the most picturesque settings for a sports ground.

Its been a s**t year on the pitch this season, but I think the corner has been turned.

Dr Q. There were rumblings that Bath were going to have to leave the Rec? What has happened on that front?

My father is a Bath fan who used to go very regularly, but makes do with watching the on TV nowadays.

The problem is the land the ground is on, the Rec. The team was granted a lease to play on the ground decades ago, but this now has charitable status and is administered by the Charities Commission, one of the most indecisive bodies in the world. Basically, to expand the ground and thus compete in a growingly expensive sport, the club need to expand its footprint on the Rec. But, the wording of the lease, basically says it can't, as no one sport is allowed to dominate the area. Despite an overwhelming support for the club to expand on the Rec by Bath residents in a recent poll, and backing by the council (including him who shall not be named....), the proposal is dying in red tape and through opposition by a select few, very vocal old codgers who I'm sure could teach the Falmer stadium opposers a thing or two about spouting vitriol and general Nimby'ism.

Recently, the club has been indicating that it will have to move out of Bath to survive, which will lose the pubs and shops of Bath significant income every other week. More recently, they have mentioned moving to a redevelopment site within Bath (the soon to be closed Cadburys plant in keynsham is also a possibility).

Something needs to happen soon, as the club will lose out to the clubs in bigger stadia (Leicester, Gloucester etc).

Didn't realise there were so many supporters of Bath on here!
