I like baseball, although I've never been a massive fan of it...but there was something utterly perfect about sitting in the bleachers on a warm Floridian evening while the sun set, watching the White Sox play the Rays at Disney Wide World of Sports a few years ago...drinking ice cold beer & eating hot-dogs. Magical.
Looking forward to catching up with American sports now that the NBA has also resumed, and NFL Training Camps start (hopefully!) next week :cool:

Budweiser best sum up my mood up right now.....

Rockies lose a thriller 0-1 in the new Texas Rangers stadium. You have to feel sorry for the Rangers fans - they get their lovely brand spanking new stadium with roof and air-conditioning, only to not be able to attend the first game. Can you imagine how that would have been for us at the Amex? I guess Brentford fans will get the same feeling soon.

Commentators were saying that Rangers had had 762 games where the temperature was over 90f so the new roof is more around avoiding heat than rain. Temperature is set at a comfortable 72f.

Sadly I can see this modified season ending in tears, given how rampant Covid is in the US right now. Nationals' star Juan Soto tested positive ahead of the first game, and it's hard to believe that will be an isolated incident. I hope I'm wrong, but my pessimism is not just because my Giants have been absolutely smashed by the hated Doggers so far!

Same old Mets

Extra innings rule didn't do us any favours

I saw three games in Phoenix where the outside temperature was 110 and the aircon in the stadium was 75
Amazing!

Looks like things could be unravelling a touch already, with the Marlins having at least 14 infections (11 players and 3 coaches) causing their games with the Orioles to be called off.

Yankees v Phillies has also been called off, as the Marlins had been playing at the Phillies when the positive tests happened.

Two Cardinals players test positive for Covid 19
So what do they do? Cancel the season?
No get them to remain in their Milwaukee hotel room and postpone the game until Sunday.

Two of the Phillies staff test positive , so they postpone this weekend series against the Blue Jay's.

I cant believe how lightly MLB seem to be treating this.

Imagine if a Premier League player tested positive in the hotel the day before a game?

They are as desperate to play some sort of game as the premier league were.

Rumour has it that MLB have advised TV companies to have alternative tv for Monday.

I think the season is going to be abandoned.

Only an amount of time before there's a fatality at this rate. Most of US should be on total lockdown, but corporate overlords want economy to plough on no matter the cost in lives.

Your Cardinals think they MIGHT have contracted Covid after a trip to a casino.

You don't get to 58,000 posts by reading other people's posts....

In my defense, I thought it was new news.
I did scroll back through yesterday's posts but didn't go any further, thinking it wouldn't have been mentioned.

More Cardinals test positive Thursday, so now this weekend's series with the Cubs is off.

They are back in quarantine. There cant be any chance of them completing the season as they have 55 games to play and less than 50 days

WS will be won by last roster standing. Even my abject Giants are in with a chance if they practice social distancing and take their Hydroxychloroquine.
