Had an American staying with us last week and she said I need to support the Mets. Don't know much about baseball but want to get into it so suppose Mets are now my team...thoughts?

The only team to support in New York - just get used to regular dissappointments

TWO new records set by the Minnesota Twins this season...

The first team ever in baseball history to score a home run in the first 7 consecutive innings (when they BLUDGEONED the Padres 16-0 earlier this month).

And last night, they became the first team in baseball history to come off a 100+ losing season (2016) to qualify for post-season the very next year.

So on to Yankee Stadium for the AL Wildcard playoff on Toosday night. Is their name on the World Series this year ?? DARE to dream :clap2:

Attended the cracking NL Wild Card game at Chase Field this evening. D'backs took an early 6-0 lead (thanks in part to a 3-run homer by hometown hero Paul Goldschmidt) but Greinke, after a strong start, began to wobble and the lead was soon back down to 2, and 1 by the seventh inning. Step forward relief pitcher Archie Bradley, who is a ****ing rockstar:-

He had to bat, so what did he do? Just went and hit a two-run triple, becoming the first reliever ever to triple in a post-season game. He then proceeded to give up two homers in the top of the next inning, but the D'backs fourth triple of the night (from AJ Pollock) provided enough insurance for the closer, Fernando Rodney.

Brilliant atmosphere from a sell-out crowd. Now onto the Dodgers; the D'backs actually had the best of the regular season match-up, 11-8, and swept the bad guys in the two most recent series, so it's game on.

Red Sox season ended when the Astros beat them 5-4 in game 4 of the ALDS series. Red Sox manager John Farrell ejected from ground after arguing with umpire.

Cubs go 2-1 in the NLDS series against the Nationals.

Dodgers sweep 3-0. They are a team hard to stop once on a roll. Yu Darvish looks a great acquisition for the rotation, strikeout specialist.

Yep, unfortunately it wasn't much of a series. D'backs starting pitching struggled throughout. You'd think if you hit 4 home runs off Kershaw (game 1) you'd probably win but it wasn't to be.

Still, it's been a brilliant turnaround season for the Snakes so hopefully they can build on that next year. Here's hoping the Dodgers get walloped in the NL Championship Series.

Always a pleasure to watch the Yankees getting beaten which they did in game 7 of the ALCS when the Astros beat them 4-0.

At the minute the Dodgers are a Powerhouse and I can’t see the Astros beating them. First game Tuesday night

Quite the game last night, spices up the rest of the series somewhat.

Yeah it was - always like watching games as a neutral when I've got no stake in the result. This now looks like it could go the full 7 games

What a great game that was. As a Giants fan, I'm really hoping that the Astros can win it, plus I think it would be nice for a city that suffered badly from hurricane Harvey.

Damn you Dodgers - 12-12! Probably the best game I've ever seen.

Did you start watching at midnight and stay up all night? I just woke up and can't believe they are still playing. Although I wish it were the Cubs, these two teams are playing some very exciting baseball.

This is definitely an all time great game.

As a DBACKS fan nothing tops game 7, 2001 for me personally, but this and the 88 WS Game 1 (Gibson walk off) are probably the two best games in my lifetime (35 years).

This really has been a great series for baseball fans. Dodgers bringing it back to 3 -3 last night after the marathon 13-12 win for the Astros on Sunday evening.

Will be glued to the gogglebox tonight at 8.20, almost a shame somebody has to lose

Out of interest, do they show baseball on Sky (or maybe BT Sport) in the UK (I know it used to be on Channel 4 back in the day)? Just wondered how UK fans keep up with it - I picked a team and everything this year (Orioles) but never really managed to keep in touch with it :D (and I don't have Sky Sport or BT either :D :D).

I watch it on mlb tv online, always a free game every night, and an annual subscription gives you every single game to watch live or whenever you want, with commentary from either side, and extensive highlights, all for $100 a year to watch anywhere in the world (except within the location that team plays). Can you imagine if the premier league did that!
