Presumably you also took the time to post when Ulloa missed a sitter against Bournemouth.

Sorry Edna, Leo has had far less games, maybe not match fit etc etc.. Ash, yet again, has failed to convert yet another open goal opportunity, having played in 23 games this season.

How can people defend him?

Because he led the line brilliantly, held the ball up superbly, brought others in to play consistently, created chances for others.

He missed a chance. ALL strikers regularly miss chances. The ball came back off the bar very quickly and at an awkward height, so it was by no means the absolute sitter that some are claiming.

We are very lucky to have him.

He missed a chance. ALL strikers occassionally miss chances, Ash makes a career out of it. The ball came back off the bar very quickly and at an awkward height, so it was by no means the absolute sitter that some are claiming.

We are very lucky to have a chance to sell him on.

Corrected for you.

Corrected for you.

Magnificent. Well done.

Strange that he is held in such high esteem by successive managers of our club, managers of other clubs and many others who clearly know what they are talking about.

It doesn't matter how well he plays, there will always be blinkered people like you who only notice his mistakes, whilst forgiving mistakes that others make.

Corrected for you.

No. No you haven't.

Feel free to continue your own ludicrous vendetta against him, but don't you dare imagine everyone else feels the same way, or that you have any right to speak for them by "hilariously" amending their posts.

Barnes always gets a shed load of stick however he does seem very highly rated as well which perhaps tells me some fans know very little about football.

He body language and expressions said it all! He wants to preform well for the in, and he never gives ul! He has another 10 goals in him this season too, we'd be mad to sell him.

In the six games before he had absences due to suspension and injury Ulloa had 19 shots for 3 goals. At that point he had more game time than Barnes. What was his excuse then?

It's not about defending a miss, it's about putting it in perspective. Perspective of expectations for players who cost anywhere from 8 to 83 times as much as Barnes did (depending on which rumour for the undisclosed fee for Barnes you believe), and perspective with everything else Barnes contributes to a game.

No vendetta. If you check on other threads you will see that I think Ash and Leo COULD build a successful partnership.

The reality is that we tend to play a lone striker tactic, that combined with his apparent refusal to sign a new contract means we should cash in while we can.

This with bells on. Barnes has held the team attack together for almost the whole season. The most telling observation of Barnes is when he comes on as a sub and he always has a massive impact. If he goes - and personally, apart from PIG and Ulloa, He is too vital to prospects to let go - I guarantee he will be banging them in for his new club much to our chagrine.

It looked like a sitter to me. Keeper was on the floor and he had the whole goal to aim at. Ball came to him at a decent height to head as well. Apart from the miss he had a decent game though. Some of his link up play was good and he got about the pitch well. One of his strengths though is NOT hold up play. He rarely holds a defender off and his success in this area comes from winning free kicks (which he over relies on in my opinion by constantly going to ground whenever he is challenged by a central defender). He is playing for his place and / or a move so if he wasn't physically making an effort something would be seriously wrong. he was nowhere near MOM. I thought Andrews passing was outstanding in the fist half and Kemy, March and Crofts were excellent as well.

No pace, no strength, always falling over under a challenge, no height, poor ball control and a total lack of instinct in front of goal.
He's a journeyman pro who will do okay at a level below The Championship.
He is one of the least talented centre forwards I can remember. In fact I'd say he has probably proved that centre forward is definitely not his position.
He's a thorough trier, I ll give you that, but there is no way this club will ever gain promotion with him leading the line.

That chance was a lot harder than it looked. He also set the goal up superbly and arguably drew a penalty if Crofts hadn't scored.

He was superb today. I've always been a fan but he's cut out a lot of the stuff that I didn't like, much stronger on the ball and he's cut the petulance out. Ran his socks off and his link up play was outstanding. He draws a lot of fouls as well.
