Gus is incredibly stubborn remember !! He wont change unless we really need to.

Id love to see CMS and Leo alongside each other though.

Believe me, we need to.

Except... his petulance almost certainly cost us 1 or 3 points, which could be the difference between making or not making the playoffs.

So, if we miss out on relegation by one or 3 points you're going to blame Barnes for today, rather than, say, Dunk v Palace. Or Kuszczak v Birmingham. Or any other scapegoat for the other 17 games in which we have dropped points this season (and the games to come we will have to drop points in to miss out on the play offs), it's only the dropped points today that would have won us a play off spot?

Doesn't mean he is correct, does it?

Maybe, maybe not. But if we don't know who all these players murraymints claims can do Barnes' job better than him are, how can we judge? Dobbie? Not defensive enough. Harley? Not hard working enough. Dicker? More of a central player. Hoskins? More of a forward. Lualua? Not defensively disciplined enough.

Funnily enough no one moans we dont have 2 up front when were winning......

well gus said after the blackburn game it's better to loose one win one.........let's see how good he is.........my money is on dicker coming back in......

Question is will Gus, in deciding who Barnes' replacement be, value his offensive or defensive contribution more. My money is on his defensive contribution so if he's fit I reckon Crofts will come in. Unfortunately.

I hope we get a string of good results and see Barnes having to fight for a place, but this won't happen as we don't pick the team sheets.

Yes, agreed. But in the position we were in the game, should he have taken off Ulloa? Why was Hoskins not brought on? Why not start the game on the attack, and let CMS make a positive impact alongside Ulloa from kick-off? Gus - time to grow a pair.

He took off Ulloa because the ref made it very clear that next infringement he was going to send him off.

Barnes has been back to his best of late and was looking like an important part of our starting eleven. Unfortunately for him and us his petulant and unnecessary lunge not only cost us vital points yesterday but now means he will miss the next three tough games.

He has let his team down badly at a time he was showing his best form and he needs to learn from this mistake quickly as individual player errors have been costing us dearly of late.

Looking forward to seeing all the Barnes bashing now... Obviously it's his fault we're losing 2-0!

I do kinda hold him responsible for making my 4.5 hour drive home a little more annoying! He was unbelievable against Arsenal and I was the first to praise him. Yesterday however was absolutely shocking and I knew he was going to get himself sent off as he was running to make the tackle. Cost us the three points for sure and deserves to get punished like wise. The silver lining to all this is CMS will hopefully get a chance to start up top with Ulloa and hopefully form a lethal partnership. Barnes will be back though and hopefully a little less petulant next time. That's the sort of thing I'd have done on a Sunday morning...

If our back four were as disciplined as they should be we wouldnt need a striker having to track back all the time and help out defensively. Gus like to get 11 men behind the ball and defend from the front......i like that but, you then need the correct players on the pitch to counter when it breaks and without buckley and lua lua who offer the speed and pace to form counters, your going to struggle.

as has been stated before - good players produce week in week out with the odd poor game. A ratio of 1/1 for good to bad games this season suggests he isnt as good as the rose tints give him credit for...IMO
