Barnes reaction to being subbed

He was head and shoulders the best player on the park on Saturday and for the first half yesterday. His head dropped after he missed the penalty and he didn't look at the races. Saturday I think he bought Wood on to try and slow the game down a bit, it didn't work as Wood did nothing but give the ball away. Last night I think he was just looking for Wood to bulldoze his way through their back line.

To be fair though I was surprised as anyone to see his number come up at the time as Kish was running on empty. God knows how he made it through the 90 but he made a cracking center half for the last 30 mins.

He always reacts like a sulky teenager when he gets subbed off, I think it's funny. But if he didn't get so wound up on the pitch he oudln't have to get taken off whenever he gets booked, hopefully with a bit more experience he will realise that.

He's obviously a very passionate player. Personally, I love it when a player gets angry when he's taken off. Shows how much they care.

Besides, Gus ALWAYS makes a point of having a quick chat whenever he takes anyone off. The personal touch is one of the many, many reasons I idolise our Gus.

Agreed, we all want our players to have passion, but it seems to me that Gus made the right decision in taking him off, particularly after the incident with their defender shortly before. It's hardly the first time that Barnes has had, uh, anger management issues on the pitch, and we can ill afford to lose him to suspension with the games coming thick and fast. A slightly dodgy temperament, but nothing that the management team can't sort out though, I am sure.

If he didn't wave at the fans he should never play for us again

It looked liked he smacked his head on the dugout when he went to sit on the bench,

The crowd near there started laughing too. I didnt see it clearly though

I'm sure he thumped it with his hand/fist - he didn't look surprised after doing it...

Nothing to see here, move along please.

he was through on goal, albeit offside, and got taken out by a defender; he was looking for a bit of handbags after that so I think Gus subbed him for his own good

Is the right answer. he was getting torrents of abuse from the Brentford ten year olds and wa clearly spoling for a punch up with their No. 22.

Int who else was sat/stood there in the cold thinking "this is how we USED to play" and came out thinking "that was poor"? Just read the Argus, and how Naylor says it was a 3 out 5 game for entertainment beggars belief.

Yes I know points win prizes at this late stage of the season, but that performance last night was poor, especially by our higher standards this year

It's not earlier in the year though is it? It's March.. crappier pitches, more at stake for opponents and us, pressure building and we're about six wins from an unbelievable promotion (for a team that just over a year ago was more worried about being relegated). To be honest, if we get 1 out of 5 for entertainment until Championship football's confirmed and win every match with the ball going in off an opponent's arse, I really couldn't care less at this point :)

This, 3 points are the most important thing right now and we keep picking them up.

I thought he had a good game personally, some good touches and link up play.

In fact, both him and Murray (and Kinsh) had strong games

Players are tired, pitches are worse, we're away from home, we won the game. Bit of perspective, please.
