Barely recognised Stockdale in this tweet from Birmingham City today and it's not just the beard!

Weirdly that photo makes him look much younger than he actually is.
He looks like a chubby 17 year old who's grown a beard to make himself look more like a man so he can get served in pubs.

I won’t forget how he was instrumental in our promotion or that he cost us the title :lolol:

This thread is quite nasty, especially considering the other thread at the moment about a lady who jumped off Beachy Head (potentially linked to online abuse).

Obviously, Stockdale is looking inappropriate for a professional footballer returning to training. But we know from experience that his weight is up and down, his first season with us he was a cuddly fella and he wasn't brilliant for us. The second season, however, he was the best keeper in the league and he was in the shape of his life. He was a bit larger in that third season and wasn't as good, again, but the double save against Wednesday alone should protect him from fat shaming online. Now that Garry Monk has left Birmingham, hopefully he'll get a bit more of a chance around the squad this season. He didn't even have a squad number last season and went on a couple of emergency loans to League 1 clubs.

He'll need to put in a fair bit of graft before he's even given a chance though. Hope he sorts himself out - he played a very large (sorry) part in getting us where we are (occasional rick excepted), with some memorable moments, particularly several penalty saves. I'm still staggered that any sports professional allows themself to get so out of condition when they have access to all the facilities and advice they need to stay in tip-top shape

.

Agreed. Knockaert talks about mental health, we all love him and give him sympathy. But happy to take the piss out of someone who has had weight issues in the past. Nice...
