some of the stats are plain silly

Ronaldo has 160 in his last 155, messi has 169

ronaldo is on for 3 hat tricks in 8 days

there are more press there than Madrid fans

Genuine question as I don't watch Spanish footy, but are they both really that good, or is the standard of opposition a bit crap? Would either of them get those sort of stats in the Premier League?

I think in the prem they'd have about 120-130 goals in 155-160 games.

Still an incredible stat!

Who knows though, just my opinion and for all I know they could score even more!

Good game, some great skill on display from both sides.

Madrid are, however, 8 points adrift of Barca already so a draw really does them no favours. It will be interesting to see whether Atleti and Malaga can last the pace as competition.

Didn't Ronaldo get 40 odd goals in one season for Man Utd?

I'd say its a combination of the other teams being a bit crap and Real being a bit good.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cristiano_Ronaldo#Hat-tricks

Look at the scores of the games he got hat-tricks in, lots of 6-0 to 8-0s which are pretty rare in the Premier League

I would back practically every team in the bottom half of La Liga against the team in the same position in the Premier League, and I'd come out on top.

The top two are easily the best two sides in world football now so it produces a skewed picture of the league's quality, but below that the competition is much closer than it is in England.

Last season the gap between Champions League football (Malaga) and Villarreal (relegated) was only 17 points. In England that gap was 33 points.

What's more, despite their inferiority, the two Manchester clubs won just as many league games last season as Barcelona.

Rayo had the worst defence in La Liga last season (73 goals). All three relegated PL sides conceded more than that.

Going for 2-2

Could have got 12/1 on that, but didn't have any money in ky account and couldn't be bothered to top up, silly me.

Barça were always going to struggle at the back with Pique and Puyol out. Alonso should have seen red and Iniesta should have had a penalty. Oh and Pepe is still the biggest twat in world football.

If you're going to play that game, Busquets should also have seen red, and Ozil could have had a penalty. Personally, I thought the ref did a good job, it wasn't a malicious match.

Foul in the build up to their 2nd goal too

Sorry, I'm getting confused. Are you talking about something that happened tonight, or about Barcelona's equaliser at Sevilla last week?

Look, this is football, over-analyze everything and you're sure to find something to complain about.

You should take a leaf out of this fellow's book, he is after all the world's best player (and I'm not talking about Ronaldo).

This is what he said about tonight's game:
"Siempre quieres ganar, pero el empate fue justo"

(translation for non-Spanish speakers: You always want to win, but the draw was fair)

A wonderful game of football between two exceptional sides. The quality from both teams was simply astounding.A draw was indeed a fair result. If you consider the astonishing stats the two goalscorers have achieved, you have to be thankful that you are around to witness them, they transcend brilliance and they are not even strikers(not in the strictest sence anyway)!
The draw has kept the league alive, the table says 8 points difference,Real will believe that its 5,with a home classico to come and head to head being vital.
