This article makes an important point which is that people jumping ship to new jobs is not a bad thing when they’re choosing to move upwards, and people ‘up’ from them want them. It’s like recruiting people that have been promoted multiple times within companies - always a good sign.

He did play a couple of seasons in Italy for Sampdoria in the eighties, so he would have been familiar with Serie A. However, Torino were in Serie B at the time. Souness had no idea about that, hadn't learned enough Italian despite living there for two years and hadn't done any research before taking the job (A year before the foundation of Google and poor Graeme presumably couldn't work 'Yahoo' or 'Ask Jeeves'). It seems that there may be a bit of projection going on:
