I haven't really come across this updated use of the word banter.

People using the word 'brigade' for people who don't share their opinions should have a look at themselves though.
Oh yes, good call. 'The PC brigade', 'The Daily Mail brigade'. I think I've been guilty of those and it does sound naff.

"Banter " is just an excuse for a bunch of wet wipes who do not have the intelligence or wit to put their point across in a civilised manner or have the where with all to win any argument without resorting to insults and they then use the " banter " card. Many of these types of people can be found on here.

Completely agree with this.

Reminds me of a story a mate told me who works at City College.

He was running a course on CV writing for the unemployed and one lad probably around 18/19 who had worked as a scaffolder was completing his. Under Key experiences & achievements he wrote 'having a bit of banter with the lads'.

If I was running the course I would of told him to leave it on there but my friend explained it perhaps wasn't the greatest line to use on a CV.

I hurt myself this morning.

I think I did my Banteria Cruciate Ligament.

And yes, I did open this thread just to post that.

That's so bad its brilliant.

Yeah, some numpty at my old work used to refer to himself as that. Imbecilic, yet quite witty. Epic bantz perhaps??
