What are you talking about you dullard?

Get on Amazon and order a copy of Straight & Crooked Thinking by Robert Thouless. You really could do with a read of it.

You're displaying all the worst characteristics of debating. For example, you use diverting tactics e.g. you ask for my personal credentials as a condition of discussing the core issue; you deliberately mix the subject matter i.e. this is about the relationship that fans have with their club, but instead you are trying to use the name change and our own situation 15 years ago as a wedge.

Basically, you're a debating terrorist.

Congratulations, you've read a book that you believe has taught you to debate, only you don't. Where have I tried to divert the issue? I have commented on other peoples posts and the arguments they have raised. As for your personal credentials, what are you babbling on about?

The issue here is that some suggested we all support Hull over the issue of a name change. Some suggested (inlcuding me) that this was a minor cause and that there were/are more worthwhile ones and, for the temerity to even suggest this, they have been derided and condemned as not true football fans. If you want to support it then go and support it and stop banging on about the footballing integrity of those that don't. However, if you wish to bang on about it on a forum then don't be surprised if you get negative responses.

You need to reread your own posts. You don't even know what you have written. Do I still need to furnish you with evidence of what I have done to support Coventry and Stevenage? Unlike you, I actually bother to remember what I have posted.

I love the way you're now spinning your posts in a fresh way. The old "some suggested" pleading that you were some passive poster. You're pathetic. I actually find people like you more dangerous than Bushy and Das Reich. At least you know where you stand with them.

Fine. You carry on. Enjoy your protest if it keeps you happy. No point me making any more points because you don't answer them. Hopefully I can piss you off on another thread sooner rather than later! 'Debating terrorist' great phrase, assume you read it somewhere.

Rumour is Yeovil are putting tea up 20p. Shall we make a banner about it???
There's really a lot more in life to worry about.

Jesus, how did this get to 9 (or is it 18) pages? I'd managed to not click on it before, but now I'm intrigued.

Is it bad that I hope we do that "City til July" chant at them ?
Actually, if all opposing fans spent the year taking the piss out of them like that, there's a chance the owner would change his mind. Probably the best thing we could do for them.

It really is that simple, even Palace fans can manage it all be it with crayons - 18 pages in and the obvious fact that you don't need everyone's permission and cooperation to hold up a sodding banner, comes to the surface.

Call it extreme if you like, but I propose we hit him hard and we hit him fast with a major - and I mean major - twitter campaign, and while he's reeling from that we'd follow up with a whist drive, a car boot sale, some street theatre and possibly even a benefit concert.

But the points you make Drew are not points. You just want to confuse matters rather than enter into the debate.

The point is this. A chairman - custodian of the club - is ignoring a significant proportion of the fan base with a plan that will amount to little. That's a dangerous precedent to set and they are trying to do something to send a message to that chairman. There but for the grace of God go we, so showing some sort of support is in the collective interest.

However, you don't want to enter into that debate. Are chairmen/women owners or custodians? What are the rights of fans?

This is not about rating their cause or ignoring them just because they are in the Premier League. This is about a fundamental issue - the rights of chairmen and the rights of fans. Forget business law in all this. Football is more than a game and so football clubs are more than just being another business.

Btw, you don't piss me off. I don't get pissed off when I'm feeling pity.

Ok then, on your specific point. Romantically, in your view, he is a custodian. In the real world he is legally the owner of the club. Most owners would not look to alienate their fan base but some do. Allam hasn't gone about this the best way. Had he put on a charm offensive instead of announcing threats he might have got more support. I suspect others would have employed a marketing firm, told them what he wanted to achieve and then worked out how to go about it.

As much as you would like to forget business law, you can't. Just putting your fingers in your ear and singing ding a ling a ling doesn't make it go away.

You might not think it is about rating their cause, that's your prerogative, but looking at a lot of responses on here, there are plenty of us that do. If you don't, then as I think someone else alluded to, you might as well get on your high horse when a club changes it's strip (again mainly for marketing purposes), or their crest/logo (as we did a few years ago) or the even just the cover of the programme.

As for football, it is a sport, it is not a matter of life or death but the way you bang on I fear you have lost all sense of reality.

There was a Scottish manager up on merseyside in the 60's/70's that would have disagreed with you.

He said some other "romantic" things too...

Forgot to add, that I don't see it as romantic, I see it as a fundamental question. the relationship between club, fans and community. Not communities in the far east, communities right here in the UK.

I wonder how this relationship would be if it was announced that the changing of the club name would result in ticket prices being reduced by 15% or so? That is the kind of sweetening the deal Allam should have been thinking of. If he is that convinced this name change will bring some serious money in, then give some of that to the fans; I bet a fair few would be less hostile with an extra £100 or so in their pocket over the course of a season.
