go to the MBK Centre for your shopping

get a motorbike taxi ride...better than any rollercoaster!

Nana Plaza is worth a visit as is Soi Cowboy

Street vendors are bloody good, check out the Insects one aswell!

i'm there in November for a re-visit, roll on!

Soi Cowboy I forgot to mention that place, wild, wild times there.

Forgot about the local rice whiskey, can't remember the name. I called it Mekong mouthwash and it's surprisingly smooth. Try it.

Try the local brew Singha.

I think Singha's probably the most palatable of all the Asian lagers.

Way way back (1992) Mrs Trufflehound and I turned up on spec at the door of the Boon Rawd Brewery in northern Bangkok - the makers of Singha - and asked if we could look around. Took them completely by surprise as they weren't set up for visitors and had no provision for tours.

Fair play to them though, they dug up their resident brewer, a German guy called Pieter, and he gave a personal tour. Then ended up in the tasting room together and the three of us got merrily sloshed for free. Marvellous days.

Pieter was married to an Englishwoman and they were counting the days until he could retire to his cottage near Norwich... I wonder if he's there now?
