Try the local brew Singha, you can walk into a 7/11 shoppe, go to the back cooler, pluck a six pack, pay for it, and drink one or two outside on the street and it's perfectly legal. Heaven. Have fun and send us pics and post them here. I love Asia.

the "Firing Of The Darts" was spectacular, popping balloons and all sorts.....brilliant!

I think Singha's probably the most palatable of all the Asian lagers.

Way way back (1992) Mrs Trufflehound and I turned up on spec at the door of the Boon Rawd Brewery in northern Bangkok - the makers of Singha - and asked if we could look around. Took them completely by surprise as they weren't set up for visitors and had no provision for tours.

Fair play to them though, they dug up their resident brewer, a German guy called Pieter, and he gave a personal tour. Then ended up in the tasting room together and the three of us got merrily sloshed for free. Marvellous days.

Pieter was married to an Englishwoman and they were counting the days until he could retire to his cottage near Norwich... I wonder if he's there now?
