Take the water buses - they're fantastic. You really have to be quick on your feet though or you miss your stop (or fall in the drink)

For a hairraising experience, always ride in a Tuk Tuk, they drive like maniacs and if they crash they explode on impact.

In some of the shopping malls their are areas where u can play fifa or pro-evo agains the locals which is good fun.

Try and eat simple food from the little dive cafes the food is good and costs peanuts and the locals are a good craic

Prominent Veins on back of the hands

Deep voices

Look out for these and you’ll be fine.

Wat Po - next to the Grand Palace - amazing massages at a trainee (buddhist) I believe. Whilst you are there check out the reclining buddha. Grand Palace is pretty special too. Stay clear off Kho San Road unless you want to mix with a bunch of 18-21 year olds. Sukhumvit the business district has lots of bars, street vendors, shops etc. Its a blinding place, seedy in a non seedy way. Enjoy

It is, and it is.

The best street food in the world - who needs restaurants? The restaurants mentioned above are indeed very good (the ones that I know at least, and probably the others too), but they are also about 20 times the price what you'll pay on the street. You can eat superbly without setting foot indoors - the night market close to the Mandarin Oriental used to be a happy hunting ground.

The area around Victory Monument is nice, big and full of mega malls like Siam Square.

Nana Plaza (red light district).

Avoid the tuk tuks like the plague. They're only there to scam you and are not a geniune service for getting around town.

Use the SkyTrain when possible, also use 'Taxi Meter' but make sure they use the meter (you'll get "meter broken"). On the river use the regular service and don't bother with the daily ticket for 120 baht or so.

Get out of town too-Ayuttaya is not far and is a nice place to visit (get a trip with a boat trip back to BKK), River Kwai too.

Bangkok-one of my favourite places, enjoy it.

Sukhumvit is good for shopping, Skytrain and food. You have to go to Patpong (at night) and Chatuchak weekend market.

Word of advice-the Temples and Palaces do NOT close for lunch and you buy your tickets inside the grounds. There'll be loads of people outside trying to sell you tickets, just ignore them.

Wow, I'm getting excited. I think river taxi's and street food it is. And Mr Rusthall Seagull cheers for that, where's the lemongrass then ?

Try La Vientiane too-it's Sukhumvit Soi 24 or thereabouts. Traditional Isarn food and dancing and cheap!
